As Head of Engineering / VP Eng, you typically join a company whose engineering team is growing fast and needs structure, process and delivery discipline. Where a CTO often owns the technical vision, you own execution: how the team is organized, how it ships, and how quality holds up at scale. You report to the CTO or CEO and work closely with Product.

Scaling a team from a handful of engineers to dozens without losing velocity or quality is the challenge.
Your goals as Head of Engineering / VP Eng
Your mission is to make engineering deliver, reliably and at pace, as it scales. Typically, you will:
- Recruit, structure and develop the engineering team (5 to 50+ engineers).
- Own delivery: CI/CD, agile/scrum, code quality standards and incident management.
- Keep velocity high while managing technical debt and reliability.
- Translate technical constraints into business terms with Product and leadership.
Who we’re looking for
We care about track record and mindset, not pedigree. 10+ years is a guideline, not a hard rule: exceptional profiles below that threshold are welcome.
Preferred experience: 10+ years in software engineering with several years managing engineering teams, having recruited and grown teams from 5 to 50+.
Hard skills: cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), backend, APIs, microservices, DevOps; engineering processes (CI/CD, agile/scrum, code quality, incident management); delivery at pace; platform engineering, data pipelines or AI/ML infrastructure a plus.
Soft skills: people leadership and coaching; clear communication with Product and business; organized and process-driven; pragmatic; calm under pressure.
