About üma

GenM, The Invisibility ReportWe are building the company that ends that invisibility.

Laboratoires üma is the French brand redefining women's midlife health. The women we serve tell us the same thing, almost word for word: "I don't recognize myself anymore." Menopause will touch every woman, yet it remains one of the most underserved spaces in consumer health. We exist to change that, with science-backed, hormone-free supplements that help women understand their bodies and feel like themselves again.

We are clinically driven: our formulas are backed by real research, including our own clinical study, and developed with rigorous quality and regulatory standards. More than 100,000 women trust üma. We are profitable, growing fast, and expanding across Europe, direct-to-consumer first, with a growing pharmacy footprint.

At üma, the ambition isn't ours: it comes from the millions of women concerned, and the taboos still left to break. Our answer is to grow fast without growing heavy: a small, senior team, real territory for everyone, talent density over headcount, AI as a default. Work here is judged by what it changes, for the business and for the women we serve. We don't sell just any product, and we don't build it with just anyone: mission-fit matters as much as talent. If it's comfort you're after, there are better places. If it's usefulness, welcome.

The Opportunity

There are two ways to be seen: rent other people's attention, or build your own. Menopause concerns millions of women in France, and there is no reference media that speaks to them seriously. Not one. They look for answers and find taboos, clichés, or silence. That void is the biggest editorial opportunity in women's health, and nobody occupies it.

We're hiring our first Head of Content & Community with a mandate that fits in one sentence: make üma a media company. Everything the brand tells, produces, and distributes on its own channels is your territory: the editorial line, the social accounts, the newsletter, the long formats, the recurring features, the appointments the audience keeps, and the spaces where our community gathers. You're not doing brand communication: you're building an audience that belongs to us, grows every month, and doesn't need its attention bought.

In your first 6 to 12 months, success means: setting the editorial line that becomes the authority on menopause, installing regular appointments the audience looks forward to, growing the audience we own outright every single month, and proving with numbers that a brand-owned media can become a growth pillar in its own right.

Who You'll Work With

You report directly to the CEO, who hands over the editorial responsibility he carries today. Day to day, you'll work with:

  • Our Creative Strategist : your counterpart on the acquisition side. Your editorial concepts feed their angles, their performance data teaches you what makes our customer stop. Two crafts, one material.
  • Our Head of Growth : what your audience builds, his acquisition no longer has to buy. Together you measure what organic changes in the equation.
  • Our Creator & Influence Lead : external voices are her territory, the channels we own are yours. Between the two of you, you cover everything said about üma.
  • Our Art Director , guardian of the brand: the visual identity of the media you're building.
  • Our Retention & LTV Lead : the newsletter and the content retain as much as they recruit, you share that border.
  • Technical SEO is handled elsewhere : you write for women first, not for search engines.

You're joining early: the team is being built now, and the first roles on your own team (community, video) will open when your audience justifies them. You'll help make those hires.

What You'll Own

  • The editorial line : what üma says, in what tone, at what standard. Menopause told seriously, without taboo and without condescension. You are the editor-in-chief of the subject.
  • The channels we own : üma's social accounts, the newsletter, the blog, long-form video, and every new channel that deserves to exist. Their coherence, their cadence, their growth.
  • Formats and appointments : the recurring features, the series, the concepts that come back and that the audience waits for. A media lives by its appointments, not by isolated posts.
  • The community : the spaces where our customers talk to each other, under our roof. You host them, you protect them, you grow them.
  • Organic distribution : making each piece of content carried by the platforms themselves, understanding what each one rewards, and earning reach rather than renting it.
  • Measurement : the owned audience that grows, the attention it gives us, and what it changes for the business. You prove, numbers in hand, that the media is an asset.

What You'll Do

  • Hold the line: arbitrate subjects, editorial angles, the calendar, what gets published and what gets refused.
  • Create and run the formats: launch a feature, kill what's fading, double down on what's taking.
  • Produce and have produced: write it yourself when it matters, orchestrate internal and freelance contributions the rest of the time.
  • Listen to the audience: the comments, the newsletter replies, the community conversations. The media is built with them.
  • Read each channel's numbers: what gets seen, read, shared, kept, and why.
  • Watch what the best media and the best media-brands are doing, here and elsewhere, and take what serves our audience.
  • Work within the health framework: content that's accurate, sourced, compliant, worthy of the subject.
  • Report to the CEO on audience growth and what it earns, evidence in hand.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 7+ years in content, editorial, or media, including one experience where you built a significant organic audience for a brand or a media outlet, and you can put numbers on it.
  • You have an editor-in-chief's head: a line, choices, a standard, and the courage to say no to a topic.
  • You know the mechanics of every platform: what TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and email reward, and how reach is earned without being bought.
  • You've hosted or grown a community, and you know it can't be delegated to a posting calendar.
  • A real pen, in French first: you write fast and true, and you raise the level of the people writing around you.
  • Audience data is your dashboard: retention, growth, engagement that matters, and you can tell vanity from value.
  • You know how to produce at a media's cadence with a brand's means: sharp priorities, smart formats, intelligent reuse.
  • AI is part of your newsroom: research, adaptation, production, without ever sacrificing accuracy.
  • Fluent and excellent French, fluent English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Health, wellness, or science: you know how to popularize without betraying, and write within a strict regulatory framework.
  • Genuine sensitivity to our audience: women over 45, what they live through, what nobody tells them.
  • Media, press, or editorial newsletter experience, on the newsroom side.
  • You've grown a newsletter before, and you know the difference between subscribers and readers.
  • Launching a video or audio format that found its audience.
  • Building an audience across multiple European markets.

What We Offer

  • A rare setup : profitable company, proven product-market fit, a category with massive tailwinds, and a media to build from page one, yours. You're our first hire dedicated to content and community: the seat grows as the company does. Direct line to the CEO and real weight in company-level decisions.
  • Competitive package : aligned with your experience and your impact.
  • A culture of autonomy & accountability : senior people, high trust, full ownership of your scope. No micro-management.
  • A menopause- and women's-health-friendly workplace : we build for women's health, and we practice it internally.
  • Remote from day one : full-time, remote (France/EU) or hybrid, with the freedom to work from wherever you do your best work. We care about output, not presence.
  • Flexible working hours : you own your schedule the way you own your results.
  • All the equipment you need : a top-tier setup so nothing slows you down.
  • Two company retreats a year, plus at least one full-team day every month : remote day to day, together when it counts.
  • Free üma products : for you and the women in your life: mothers, partners, sisters.
  • €500/year self-care & growth budget : gym, dance class, books, courses: whatever makes you feel great and makes you grow.
  • Great health coverage : for EU-based team members.
