Head of Consumer Experience Design
Position Overview
The Head of Consumer Experience (CX) Design will own the vision and responsibility of providing world‑class user‑experience design globally for Sanofi products and its ecosystem. You will provide the strategic design direction and vision for the next generation digital health experience efficaciously. You are responsible to deliver experience design solutions for Sanofi patients, customers and staff to work seamlessly and easily across products and help deliver the brand promise. You collaborate effectively with a variety of business leaders, technology leaders, product managers, corporate branding, and other key stakeholders to develop large growth businesses and maintain design operations. You will identify and set product strategy, envision complex UX ecosystems, and inspire teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible. You will possess a clear vision of the future of user experience and pursue forward‑thinking design.
Responsibilities
- Global Design leader responsible for all design functions, departments, and locations.
- Influential leader representing Design across the business, including all product and service development functions; responds to organizational changes as they occur.
- Lead and develop a best‑in‑class Design leadership team; establish and exemplify leadership norms for the entire organization.
- Integrate Design within the Consumer Experience and digital development process and be an advocate for design within Digital, partner organizations and stakeholder groups.
- Affect deep levels of change in how design functions with its peers in Global Business Units, Product and Engineering.
- Communicate effectively with a large organization, leadership team, and individuals, flexing and adapting to audiences at all levels and across stakeholders/partners.
- Drive operational and execution excellence, while leading creative and holistic thinking at scale across diverse product releases, platforms.
- Ensure Design brings the best creative thinking to the product/business/customer with consistency and within committed timeframes.
- Work closely with direct and indirect team members to define, document and maintain overall user‑experience strategy, rollout, and maintenance for Sanofi products and digital solutions.
- Set the tone and vision for behaviors that align with company values, foster collaboration, achieve results, and are inclusive.
- Portray forward‑thinking capacity and the demonstrated ability to motivate teams inside and outside the department to follow and invest in their ideas.
- Set direction, shape the organization, and manage resources (financial, people, technological, etc.) in alignment with organizational vision and company priorities.
- Develop internal talent within and recruit top talent to Sanofi’s CX Design organization, including leading community‑facing aspects of the Sanofi employee experience.
- Embody excellence in product design at all levels, represent the department at the highest levels within the company and influence product and brand direction.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Design, HCI or related field.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field a plus.
- 15+ years building, managing and mentoring a team of researchers and designers, including senior level and lead designers at large enterprise‑size creative/design management experience.
- 20+ years of experience in the design of multi‑device software/applications.
- Solid understanding of how to test, measure and refine designs based on customer feedback and market data.
- Previous experience implementing a Human‑Centered Design methodology in product development.
- Strong leadership skills enabling the design team’s creativity and drive to continually improve their work.
- Visionary with a portfolio that demonstrates the balance of business, user needs and analytics with design aesthetic execution.
- Embody a strong and effective creative point of view inside the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen, articulate positions, and advocate designs.
- Vibrant and engaging communicator who can present concepts and ideas to all levels of the company.
- Familiarity with pharma/health technology is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in crafting the ideas, educating across different functional teams and following through with successful execution.
- Ability and interest to help lead cultural shifts in the organization, including Digital transformation.
