Handling Qualities Engineer
Job Description
Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Handling Qualities Engineer to join our Stability & Control department based in Toulouse, France.
You will be part of a team that, throughout the aircraft's life cycle, acts as an integrator between the Aerodynamics, Performance, Loads, and Modelling domains, as well as with the various aircraft systems including engines and landing gear to ensure that the aircraft's Handling Qualities meet the required standards.
Responsibilities
- Sizing of control surfaces and validation of handling qualities & stability requirements.
- Definition of the flight envelope (minimum speeds, definition of angle‑of‑attack protection elements), in close collaboration with cockpit systems and operational teams (Customer Support, Flight Tests).
- Evaluation of aircraft behaviour in the event of system failures.
- Contributing to the development of new aircraft, incremental developments, and R&T.
- Preparing dossiers for certification and maintaining fleet airworthiness.
- Contributing to flight safety assessment and initiatives to upgrade flight safety standards.
- Contributing to feedback, as well as the development and maintenance of skills within the team and with major interfaces (Flight Physics, Flight & Lab Tests, Propulsion, Product Safety, etc.).
Qualifications
- Degree in aeronautical engineering (or equivalent).
- Knowledge of flight mechanics and flight dynamics.
- Knowledge of aerodynamics or performance.
- Interest in digitalization (big data analysis).
- Knowledge of control simulation tools: Matlab, Simulink, etc.
- Knowledge of automatic control systems would be a plus.
- Knowledge of aircraft systems would also be a plus.
- Advanced level in both English and French.

This position is permanent and located in Toulouse, France. It requires a professional level experience and falls under Class F12.
