Contract type: Permanent
Job Description
Eramet is looking for its next Group Insurance Manager, reporting directly to the Executive Committee member also in charge of the Legal and Permitting Department.
This role is both operational and strategic: the Group Insurance Manager leads the Group's entire insurance coverage strategy (several tens of millions of euros in annual premiums), in close coordination with risk management. In a context of transformation, the key challenge is to evolve the Group's insurance approach towards a risk prevention and mitigation tool, aligned with the Group risk map. The role sits at the heart of the interface between risk teams, operations and market partners (insurers, reinsurers and brokers).Across four continents, the scope covers heavy and diverse industrial assets (open-pit mines, metallurgical plants, railway infrastructure, chemical sites, mineral carriers, geotechnical structures, etc.) in high-risk geographies, notably Gabon, Senegal, Argentina and New Caledonia. This role will allow you to showcase your curiosity and your appetite for diverse situations and field environments.
In addition, the Group Insurance Manager participates in managing the Group's reinsurance captive.
Responsibilities
1. Insurance strategy & risk management
- Define and evolve the insurance coverage strategy in line with the Group's risk map and mitigation priorities.
- Identify uninsured or inadequately insured risks and propose appropriate solutions (new policies, adjustments, retention through the captive).
- Participate in the management and optimisation of the reinsurance captive and, where applicable, serve as a director.
- Actively contribute to the Enterprise Risk Management framework by bringing the risk transfer dimension.
- Oversee all lines of coverage: property damage/business interruption, general liability, environmental liability, marine cargo, cyber, construction all risks (CAR), medical, etc.
- Lead negotiations with insurers and reinsurers, highlighting the Group's prevention initiatives, in close collaboration with brokers.
- Ensure regulatory compliance of programmes at each of the Group's locations (Gabon, Senegal, Argentina, Norway, etc.).
3. Claims management
- Manage claims from opening to closure: preparing the file, liaising with loss adjusters, negotiating and collecting cash.
- Ensure effective collection of indemnities across all geographies, including the most complex markets.
- Analyse claims to draw lessons for coverage and prevention.
4. Stakeholder engagement & external relations
- Manage relationships with insurers, brokers, experts and local correspondents with a view to building lasting partnerships.
- Support local teams on insurance matters.
- Contribute to ESG/CSRD/DEU reporting on risk and insurance matters.
- Manage the insurance administrator responsible for operational and budgetary matters.
Profile
Education & experience
- Master's degree (Bac+5) in law, finance, engineering, business or from a specialised insurance school.
- At least 10 years' experience in insurance, gained in an international industrial company and/or brokerage, with a significant heavy-industry portfolio.
- Cross-functional experience across several lines of coverage: property damage/business interruption, general liability, environmental liability, marine cargo, cyber, construction all risks (CAR), medical, etc.
- Knowledge of the French market is a plus. Experience of the London market or the sector's market is an advantage.
- Ability to think in terms of risk mitigation, beyond simply managing policies: understand the underlying risk in order to size the coverage appropriately.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to build lasting relationships of trust with insurers and brokers.
- Performance-oriented: managing claims collection, monitoring prevention plans, optimising market conditions.
- At ease when engaging with operational teams in the field and decision-makers.
- Strong analytical and writing skills; autonomy and a questioning mindset.
- Fluency in English and French is essential.
