Our client is a leading international specialty chemicals company seeking an experienced Group General Counsel & Corporate Secretary (or Corporate Secretary , depending on background) to support its executive leadership team in legal, corporate governance and strategic business matters.
This is a high-level executive position requiring extensive experience within a large international specialty chemicals organization. The successful candidate will combine strong legal and corporate governance expertise with a deep understanding of the challenges facing a global industrial business.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise the Executive Committee and senior leadership on legal, corporate governance and strategic matters.
- Ensure compliance with international legal and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Oversee corporate governance for the Group and its subsidiaries.
- Coordinate Board of Directors and Executive Committee activities, including governance documentation and decision‑making processes.
- Support major strategic initiatives, including acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships and international expansion projects.
- Manage legal risks while providing pragmatic business‑oriented solutions.
- Coordinate external legal advisors and ensure consistency of legal practices across the Group.
- Work closely with business, finance, HR, operations and commercial leadership on cross‑functional projects.
- Promote high standards of ethics, compliance and corporate governance throughout the organization.
Candidate Profile
- Significant executive experience as Corporate Secretary, General Counsel, Group Legal Director or equivalent within a large specialty chemicals company .
- Mandatory experience in an international industrial environment with global operations.
- Strong knowledge of corporate governance, corporate law, commercial law and international business transactions.
- Experience supporting executive leadership and Boards of Directors.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex strategic and cross‑border projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Business‑oriented mindset with sound judgement and strong decision‑making abilities.
- Fluent English is mandatory; additional languages are considered an asset.
