Wärtsilä is seeking a General Manager Supply Management for Wärtsilä Special Applications. This strategic role is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of the Special Applications supply activity, supporting nuclear and military‑sector customers. The position is located at our Surgères Office in France.

As a key member of the Wärtsilä Special Applications Management Team, you will drive operational excellence, ensuring the deployment of strategy within the Supply Chain to deliver high customer value in one of the company’s most critical and regulated business segments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the Supply Management Department, from strategic to operational supply.
  • Define and drive our supply management long‑term strategy to support the Wärtsilä Special Application Strategy and ensuring alignment with Energy Services.
  • Ensure smooth coordination across your departments; identify priorities and resolve cross‑functional issues.
  • You will participate to optimize and enforce the Quality Management System specific to nuclear and military activities in our department and the supply chain.
  • Oversee the parts deliveries to secure the customers’ needs and the maintenance operations both onsite and in the dedicated Surgères workshop.

People & Organizational Development

  • Build team capabilities through recruitment, training plans, and skills development in your department.
  • Lead cultural and operational improvements (safety initiatives, well‑being programs, etc.).

Reporting & Governance

  • Produce performance activity reporting and identify efficiency improvements of your department.
  • Support internal and external audits (ISO 9001/14001/18001 and customer‑specific requirements).

Key Relationships

Internal

  • Reporting directly to the Director of Special Applications
  • General Managers across Special Applications

External

  • External auditors

Required Expertise

  • Proven experience leading teams and strategic contract negotiation
  • Strong background in supply management within nuclear and/or military environments
  • Understanding of export control regulations for military equipment
  • Experience with internal/external audits and Quality Management Systems
  • Fluency in English (Group’s official language)
