Boston Scientific is seeking an experienced cardiac electrophysiologist to join our Cardiology business as a Global Medical Director. In this physician leadership role, you will serve as the clinical voice of physicians and patients, providing medical expertise and strategic guidance across the lifecycle of electrophysiology and left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) therapies.
You will collaborate across a global network of teams—including Clinical Research, Clinical Evidence, Research and Development (R&D), Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial functions—to support innovation, evidence generation, and patient safety.
Location and work model
This role is based on-site at one of our key locations (e.g., Marlborough, MA or Arden Hills, MN, U.S.). Specific location and mobility expectations will be confirmed during the recruitment process.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a medical expert and patient advocate across the product lifecycle for electrophysiology and LAAC therapies
- Provide medical leadership on benefit-risk assessment across product development, clinical studies and post-market activities
- Partner cross-functionally to inform product strategy and medical decision‑making
- Provide medical oversight for clinical trials, including protocol development, investigator engagement and data interpretation
- Support post‑market surveillance activities, including safety signal evaluation and device performance assessment
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and investigators to assess adverse events and emerging clinical insights
- Represent Boston Scientific with key opinion leaders, regulatory authorities, advisory boards and professional societies
- Review and approve clinical, scientific and regulatory materials
- Ensure clinical accuracy and compliance across educational and promotional content
- Contribute clinical expertise to innovation initiatives, product development and business development activities
- Support the development and mentorship of medical and cross‑functional colleagues
Qualifications
- Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree or international equivalent
- Board certification (or equivalent) in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology
- Valid, unrestricted medical license in good standing
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as an independent cardiac electrophysiologist
- Expertise in complex arrhythmia management and advanced electrophysiology procedures
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate clinical data and apply sound medical judgment
- Working knowledge of clinical trial design, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and medical device development
Preferred qualifications
- Experience as a clinical investigator or participation in IRB, CEC or similar oversight bodies
- Knowledge of global medical device regulations and post‑market safety practices
- Experience supporting innovation, business development or technology assessments
- A global perspective and familiarity with electrophysiology practices across diverse healthcare systems
