Global Head of Electronics Engineering
Our client is a global technology leader developing high-performance electronic systems for demanding professional applications. The company designs complex software & hardware platforms combining advanced electronics, embedded software, and long-life product requirements, with strong constraints on reliability, manufacturability, and industrialization.
To support the development of next-generation platforms, the organization is seeking a Global Electronics Engineering Manager. Reporting to senior R&D management, this role is responsible for leading a team of hardware and software engineers while driving the design, validation, and industrialization of complex electronic boards and firmware.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop an electronics team of 7–8 engineers
- Define, deploy, and enforce design rules, best practices, and documentation standards
- Plan, prioritize, and monitor team activities, workload, and technical deliverables
- Coordinate prototype builds, board bring-up, debugging, software and hardware validation
- Work closely with embedded software, FPGA/firmware, system, mechanical, and validation teams to ensure overall system coherence
- Lead technical interactions with external suppliers (software, components, FPGA vendors, PCB manufacturers, EMS)
- Participate in supplier selection, technical qualification, and long-term supplier relationship management
- Anticipate and mitigate technical and supply-chain risks (components, FPGA availability, obsolescence, PCB technologies)
- Support industrialization, transfer to manufacturing, and lifecycle management of electronic products
- Mentor, coach, and evaluate team members; contribute to skills development and performance management
Requirements
- Strong experience in hardware electronics design within complex electronic systems
- Proven expertise in multilayer PCB design, including high-speed digital interfaces, power integrity, and EMC constraints
- Experience working with FPGA-based architectures (interfaces, constraints, system integration; HDL knowledge is a plus)
- Linux firmware based experience
- Hands‑on experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools (Altium, Cadence, or equivalent)
- Excellent knowledge of certifications (CEM & LVD)
- Proven experience managing or leading teams of similar size (7–8 people)
- Experience interfacing with FPGA vendors, electronic component suppliers, PCB manufacturers, and EMS partners
- Ability to technically challenge supplier proposals and manufacturing constraints
- Strong understanding of the full electronics development lifecycle, from concept through industrialization
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and decision‑making skills
- Strong communication and leadership skills in a cross‑functional, international environment
- Master’s degree in electronics engineering or a related field
This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a sizable and technically strong electronics team while remaining closely involved in the design of advanced embedded electronics platforms. You will have a direct impact on technical architecture, supplier strategy, and long-term product robustness in a high-performance professional environment.
