What this job can offer you

As a critical extension of our clients’ HR teams, we navigate and advise on the intricate paths of global employment with speed, expertise, and precision. The Lifecycle team’s vision is to elevate HR practices through technology and to enrich customer experiences in over 80+ countries. Your work will influence our compliance coverage, customer journeys, and operational capacity. You’ll be at the forefront of shaping the future of work, ensuring every interaction is fast, intuitive, and impactful.

The Lifecycle Specialist, Employee Relations & Transitions manages employee exits for Remote's external employees with a focus on legal compliance and providing excellent customer service. The specialist also provides first-level Employee Relations support, guiding clients through workplace concerns and coordinating resources when needed.

As part of a larger employee Lifecycle team, the Specialist contributes to process improvements and initiatives aligned with Remote's strategic goals and values.

Key Responsibilities

Offboarding

  • Manage and resolve end-to-end employee exits across multiple international jurisdictions, prioritizing a superior offboarding experience for Remote's clients and their employees.
  • Provide guidance and manage client requests on HR matters including termination, resignation and transfer procedures, employment contracts, and redundancy processes, ensuring legal compliance and best practices.
  • Lead and facilitate meetings with clients and external employees, including workforce reduction consultation meetings, administrative hearings, negotiations in separations and settlements, and delivering termination outcomes.
  • Influence and negotiate positive outcomes in complex terminations, balancing multiple stakeholders with competing interests.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance in offboarding activities and audits, including payroll, legal counsel, government bodies, and trade unions.
  • Draft, tailor and administer termination and supplementary documents with accuracy, maintaining employee records with privacy and confidentiality regulations.
  • Process offboarding on Remote's internal HRIS platform, collaborating with Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, Time and Attendance, and other verticals to ensure all aspects are administered correctly and promptly.
  • Respond to internal and external queries on offboarding matters in conjunction with Lifecycle’s stakeholders.
  • Guide clients through Remote's Employee Relations resources and policies.
  • Assess workplace concerns, identify key facts and applicable local regulations.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure appropriate handling of employee relations matters.
  • Support clients in understanding progressive disciplinary approaches and documentation requirements.
  • Monitor ongoing employee relations cases and coordinate with relevant stakeholders for timely follow-up.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, product development, and overall customer and employee experience through offboarding and employee relations.

Key Requirements and Characteristics

  • Experience as a HR Advisor or HR Business Partner with generalist HR competencies across the employee lifecycle.
  • Proven experience in managing voluntary and involuntary exits with care, sensitivity and legal compliance across various jurisdictions.
  • Ability to interpret and apply industrial instruments, analyze HR issues, conduct research, and communicate recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Basic understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline, and workplace investigations.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills; able to lead difficult conversations professionally and confidentially.
  • Business-level proficiency in written and spoken English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Aptitude to innovate and optimize processes, with opportunities for automation and best practices.
  • Attention to data integrity and thorough record-keeping.
  • Tech-savvy and able to collaborate asynchronously with evolving systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously in an international, fast-paced, asynchronous remote environment with multiple priorities; willing to work flexible hours.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with ownership and accountability.
  • Demonstrates strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
