Position Overview
The Global Enterprise Data Architecture (EDA) Product Owner will lead the success and evolution of EDA products, enabling real‑time, event‑driven data exchange across L’Oréal. The role focuses on building, marketing, and scaling event‑driven data solutions to empower business units and technical teams worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Identify EDA use cases by engaging business and tech teams to surface, qualify and prioritize projects that benefit from an event‑driven approach.
- Market and evangelize EDA capabilities by building and executing an internal go‑to‑market strategy, including demos, playbooks, success stories, and communication assets.
- Enable use case delivery by acting as the primary enabler for teams onboarding onto the EDA platform; provide guidance, reusable event design patterns, self‑service tooling and documentation.
- Accelerate EDA adoption by identifying recurring event patterns, challenging one‑off implementations, and transforming successful use cases into reusable products such as topics, schemas, connectors, and reference architectures for the event catalog.
- Position EDA within the broader integration landscape, advising teams on when event‑driven patterns are appropriate versus APIs, iPaaS, or batch, and collaborating with the Integration PO to ensure consistency across the Hybrid Integration Platform ecosystem.
- Own the EDA product backlog: structure and prioritize, write user stories, and work with the squad to deliver MVPs and iterations that can be progressively reused.
- Productize and industrialize EDA assets by ensuring event streams and connectors are documented, versioned, catalogued, and SLA‑bound to drive reuse and governance.
- Coordinate with platform, security and data governance teams to ensure compliance with architecture, security, and regulatory requirements such as schema governance, data lineage, GDPR, etc.
- Monitor EDA product KPIs (adoption, throughput, incidents, consumer count) and drive continuous improvement actions with the squad.
- Contribute to documentation, release notes, demos and training to support onboarding of new EDA consumers and producers.
Role
- Own the global success of assigned EDA products, driving the shift from ad‑hoc event integration to a product‑driven model.
- Define and maintain the vision, scope and backlog for EDA products.
- Identify, qualify and activate EDA use cases across the Group, working with business and tech teams.
- Build and execute the internal go‑to‑market strategy to promote EDA adoption at scale.
- Enable and accelerate teams to deliver event‑driven use cases on the Confluent platform with speed and quality.
- Ensure compliance with architecture, security and data governance standards in all integration designs and deliveries.
- Promote reuse and standardization of event‑driven solutions across platforms and zones.
- Advise on integration approach selection (EDA vs. API vs. iPaaS) and ensure coherence with the broader HIP strategy.
- Collaborate with the EDA Platform Owner to align product roadmap with platform capabilities and evolution.
- Ensure compliance with architecture, security, data governance and schema management standards.
- Foster effective collaboration with business, platform, architecture and practice teams.
- Drive EDA adoption and activation with the Practice Lead: deliver trainings and run awareness sessions to accelerate event‑driven practices across zones and teams.
- Ensure EDA product decisions support IT2030 objectives, sovereignty, resilience and long‑term agility.
Key Requirements
Seniority & Experience
- 8‑12 years of experience in integration and/or Product Management or a similar role in a large complex organisation.
- Strong background in large‑scale integration: event streaming, APIs, iPaaS, messaging and batch flows.
- Proven ability to drive technology adoption and build go‑to‑market strategies for internal platforms.
- Experience working in global, distributed environments.
Technical Expertise & Hard Skills
- Solid understanding of integration concepts: APIs (REST/GraphQL), iPaaS (e.g., Workato), batch/ETL, messaging and how EDA complements them within the integration landscape.
- Deep knowledge of EDA concepts: Kafka topics, partitions, consumer groups, schemas, connectors, stream processing (ksqlDB / Flink).
- Experience working with iPaaS solutions (e.g., Workato or similar).
- Ability to read and challenge high level technical designs and data flows with architects and engineers.
- Practical experience with agile tools and documentation (Confluence, AsyncAPI, event catalog tooling).
Soft Skills & Mindset
- Strong product mindset focused on value, reuse and internal customer satisfaction.
- Evangelist profile: able to market complex technical capabilities in a compelling way to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, able to make complex topics simple for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management to drive adoption without formal authority.
- Team player, able to collaborate effectively with the EDA Platform Owner and align on priorities.
- Analytical and structured, able to prioritize, make trade‑off decisions and manage uncertainty.
Success Metrics
- Progressive simplification of the integration landscape through EDA‑driven decoupling: number of EDA use cases identified, qualified and successfully activated across the Group.
- Increase in adoption metrics: active Confluent topics, consumer teams onboarded, event throughput across business domains.
- Growth of the reusable EDA product catalog (event schemas, connectors, reference patterns).
- Positive feedback from internal customers on EDA products and support.
- Alignment of EDA platform evolution with IT2030 strategic objectives.
Benefits
- Invests in Tech and positions its Tech teams at the heart of its digital transformation strategy.
- Allows employees to have a real impact, test ideas, innovate and build the future.
- Hybrid Work Policy: 3 Days in Office, 2 Days Work from Home.
- Many benefits: VIP staff shop offering products at a preferential rate, company restaurant & gym, 60% reimbursement of transportation subscription, work council offering employee discounts (social & cultural activities, holiday vouchers, etc.) and more.
- Innovative HR policy: dynamic mobility policy, significant investment in employee training, regular re‑evaluation of remuneration, numerous measures such as Time Savings Account, paternity leave, Citizen Day, etc.
- Equal Opportunity Employer: L’Oréal takes pride in a diverse environment. We do not discriminate in recruitment, hiring, training, promotion, or other employment practices. The beauty we find in our differences gives us the freedom to go beyond. That’s the beauty of L’Oréal.
