At Symrise, the Taste, Nutrition & Health segment leverages its expertise and scientific research to provide customers and partners with unique, sustainable solutions based on natural ingredients, across taste, nutrition and health. With more than 100 sites in over 40 countries, the segment serves the food industry as well as pet food and aquaculture manufacturers. It is structured into two divisions — Food & Beverage and Pet Food.
The Pet Food division offers product solutions and services to enhance palatability and acceptance of pet food, ensure its safety, and support animal health. To study food acceptance, feeding behavior and interactions between pets and their owners, the division operates four expert centers with approximately 1,000 owned dogs and cats.
In line with the principle “closer is better”, Symrise Pet Food, within the Taste, Nutrition & Health segment, serves its customers from more than 30 sites worldwide.
Your role
- Define and deploy the purchasing strategy for a portfolio of ingredients (global/local sourcing, standardization, innovation) in alignment with the Pet Food business challenges.
- Build, manage and continuously update the category roadmap based on supplier market analyses (economic, technological and regulatory aspects).
- Lead tenders and conduct strategic negotiations to optimize total cost of ownership (TCO) and secure contracts at an international level.
- Develop and structure a high‑performing global supplier base while ensuring sustainable value creation and risk control.
- Implement supply security strategies and business continuity plans in collaboration with supply chain and regional teams.
- Identify, assess and manage supplier and supply chain risks (financial, geopolitical, compliance).
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Quality and Vendor Assurance to support innovation, develop new ingredients, and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Define and deploy purchasing and supply chain policies, processes and best practices in line with group strategies.
- Integrate CSR challenges into purchasing strategies and drive their implementation internally and with suppliers.
- Identify and drive supply chain performance improvement levers through cross‑functional collaboration with procurement and operations teams.
- Define and monitor procurement KPIs (cost, quality, service, innovation) to support business growth and ensure overall competitiveness.
About you
- Master’s degree (or equivalent, Bac+5) in purchasing, business, engineering, finance or a related field.
- 5–10 years of proven experience in strategic procurement within an international environment, including global category management and cross‑functional leadership.
- Strong knowledge of raw material markets, ideally phosphates (a strong asset). Experience in Pet Food, FMCG or pharmaceutical industries is a plus.
- Ability to operate in an international matrix organization, with strong cross‑functional collaboration skills and the ability to deliver results through influence and coordination.
- Solid skills in market analysis, procurement strategy, performance management and negotiation, with a global and analytical mindset.
- Recognized leadership, strong influencing skills, and excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken; Spanish is a plus.
- Rigorous, proactive, critical thinker with strong ethical standards and a high awareness of safety and compliance issues.
