Global Architecture Reliability & Safety Engineer
Job Overview
Safety comes first in what we do at Airbus. The architecture of the different aircraft systems meets the highest safety requirements through rigorous engineering for a safe and optimized integration of aircraft. The design of these safety critical systems (such as fuel systems, air conditioning system, hydraulic system, electrical system, etc.) is highly iterative and is driven by Systems Engineering principles to ensure consistency and traceability.
Responsibilities
- Build an early stage 3D design of an integrated aircraft, referred to as Global Architecture Mockup (GAM)
- Develop and implement reliability and safety strategies, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Support flight clearance, safety analysis (SSA, FHA, PSSA, CCA) and PRA aspects
- Support the analysis and assessment of product reliability and safety, including FMEA, fault tree analysis (FTA) and reliability block diagrams (RBD)
- Screen and implement architecture changes that impact system safety
- Converge and implement electrical routing definition, such as wiring diagrams, to ensure correct functional safety analysis
- Summarize safety findings and synthesize reports to demonstrate proof of compliance
- Support configuration management aspects
- Support compliance review associated with certification documentation
- Support screening and management of in-service occurrences
- Support quality checks on process documents
- Drive improvements of process, methods and tools
- Report status of activities, timely escalation of issues, identification of risks and proposals for risk mitigation
- Interface with relevant counterparts in Europe to ensure maximum effectiveness on activities
- Interface with suppliers on technical and process aspects of the aircraft system
Education & Experience
- B.Tech./B.E./M.Tech./M.E. in Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
- Preferably 3–8 years of work experience
Required Technical Expertise
- Very good knowledge of aircraft and its systems
- Methodology for conducting safety analysis in aircraft – FHA, SSA, CCA, PSSA, PRA
- Good understanding of Systems Engineering concepts
- Good knowledge of electrical drawings and 3‑D design tools such as CATIA, 3DX
- Awareness of system safety analysis standards ARP 4761 and ARP 4754
