Context & Job Description
The Buildings & Infrastructure Group (B&I Group) within the Technical and Infrastructure Division is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of the site and technical infrastructure of the ESRF.
Responsibilities
- Provide expertise and coordinate civil engineering and construction projects throughout all phases including design, call for tenders and commissioning.
- In collaboration with other units and ESRF divisions, define project requirements, key milestones, budget allocations and project schedules.
- Draft the corresponding technical specifications and follow up on calls for tender.
- Manage and coordinate contracts for building and infrastructure work.
- Oversee and coordinate all project work packages, including technical studies, schedule management, budget follow‑up, construction works, and commissioning during both design and execution phases.
- Supervise, organise and monitor on‑site construction activities to ensure compliance with project objectives, quality standards, safety requirements and timelines.
Expected Profile
Successful candidates should be Construction or Civil Engineers with significant experience in building and civil engineering projects.
- A higher university degree (Master’s or equivalent 300 ECTS diploma) in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status in building construction and/or participation in large‑scale project installation.
- A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in technical design, contract management and/or construction site supervision.
- Experience in project management, including planning, scheduling and coordination of project activities.
- Knowledge in construction and civil works, mechanical engineering, electrical distribution systems, fluid and ventilation network and work safety requirements.
- Experience of tendering exercises (writing specifications and cost projections).
- Knowledge of AUTOCAD is considered an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of European and French standards and regulations related to construction is mandatory.
Personal Skills Required
- Aptitude for teamwork and project coordination.
- Good communication skills: internal and external reporting.
- Management abilities for sub‑contracted work.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- Fluent in written and spoken French (minimum level: C1).
- Intermediate level in written and spoken English (minimum level: B2).
Working Conditions
Permanent contract. Salary will be calculated based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.
