Full-Stack Engineer, Office of the CEO
About the role
Arago is seeking a Full-Stack Engineer to join the Office of the CEO and construct the internal software infrastructure that accelerates the entire organization. You will operate at the intersection of AI and systems engineering, designing and deploying production-grade tools that range from workflow automation to sophisticated agentic systems. This position offers immediate, high-visibility collaboration with the founding team and requires a builder capable of shipping reliable, secure applications in days rather than quarters. The role demands a pragmatic product mindset, where you engage directly with internal stakeholders to scope, prototype, and refine solutions that directly impact the velocity of a deep-tech company pushing the boundaries of AI and semiconductors.
Key facts
- Location: Paris Offices
- Engagement: Full-time, On-site
- Compensation: Competitive cash salary plus significant early-stage equity; relocation bonus and moving expenses covered for moves within 20 minutes of the office; 50% public transport reimbursement; 25 days PTO plus public holidays; healthcare, pension, and professional development budget.
What you'll do
- Architect, develop, and maintain a suite of internal tools and dashboards supporting critical functions across operations, recruiting, finance, and engineering coordination.
- Embed advanced AI capabilities - including LLM chains, autonomous agents, and retrieval-augmented generation systems - into internal workflows to automate decision-making and augment team productivity.
- Deploy and operate applications within on-premise and self-hosted environments, guaranteeing high availability, strict data confidentiality, and robust security postures.
- Collaborate in tight, rapid iteration cycles directly with the CEO and senior management to gather requirements, prototype solutions, and refine features based on immediate, real-world usage feedback.
- Institute lightweight but rigorous engineering practices - including version control strategies, automated testing pipelines, and observability monitoring - tailored for fast-moving internal products.
- Design and implement secure authentication, authorization, and access-control mechanisms to protect sensitive company data across all deployed internal systems.
- Manage the full software development lifecycle from database schema design and API development through to container orchestration and CI/CD pipeline maintenance using Docker and Linux environments.
- Translate ambiguous, high-level strategic directives from leadership into concrete technical specifications and shipped features with minimal oversight.
- Build and maintain data pipelines and integration layers that connect disparate internal systems (HRIS, ATS, CRM, Git providers) into a unified operational layer.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor peers on best practices for AI integration patterns, and contribute to the technical culture of the Office of the CEO.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging AI frameworks, tool-calling standards, and model routing strategies to keep the internal tooling stack at the cutting edge.
- Ensure all deployed solutions adhere to compliance requirements relevant to a deep-tech hardware and AI organization handling proprietary IP.
Requirements
- Demonstrated professional experience as a Software Engineer, Full-Stack Developer, Data Scientist, AI Engineer, or ML Engineer with a track record of shipping production systems.
- Proven ability to deliver production-grade SaaS applications end-to-end, spanning frontend interfaces, backend services, database architecture, and deployment infrastructure; a strong portfolio or shipped products weighs heavier than tenure.
- Deep proficiency in modern web technology stacks, specifically TypeScript and React for the frontend, and Python with FastAPI or Node.js for backend services, backed by PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience integrating Large Language Models and AI APIs into live applications; practical familiarity with agentic frameworks, tool-calling patterns, and orchestration libraries is a significant advantage.
- Competence in deploying and maintaining applications in on-premise or self-hosted contexts, including containerization with Docker, Linux system administration, and CI/CD pipeline construction.
- Strong product orientation: ability to communicate directly with non-technical users, scope features pragmatically, and deliver functional increments in days rather than months.
- Professional proficiency in English (written and verbal); French language skills are considered a strong asset for local integration.
- Ability to work on-site at the Paris office full-time and eligibility to work in France (visa sponsorship potential exists for exceptional candidates given the company's international backing).
Nice to have
- Prior experience working in a deep-tech, semiconductor, photonics, or hardware-adjacent software environment.
- Background in building developer productivity tools, internal platforms, or enterprise SaaS administration consoles.
- Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) optimization, vector databases, and embedding model evaluation.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible) or Kubernetes for on-premise orchestration.
- Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects or active participation in the AI engineering community.
- Previous exposure to founder-led or early-stage startup environments where ambiguity is high and processes are being defined.
Skills & tools
TypeScript, React, Python, FastAPI, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Docker, Linux, CI/CD (GitHub Actions/GitLab CI), LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source models), Agentic Frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, or similar), RAG/Vector Databases, REST/GraphQL API Design, Git, On-premise Deployment, Security & Access Control.
Practical notes
The role is strictly on-site at the Paris headquarters; remote work is not an option for this position. Arago provides a relocation bonus and covers moving expenses for candidates willing to live within a 20-minute commute of the office. The compensation package includes a competitive base salary calibrated against peer roles and location, complemented by a meaningful equity grant typical of founding-stage deep-tech ventures. Benefits encompass comprehensive healthcare (with family options), pension contributions, a professional development budget, 25 days of annual leave plus French public holidays, and 50% reimbursement of public transport costs. The team currently comprises approximately ten nationalities, operating in English as the working language. Visa sponsorship is feasible for outstanding international candidates due to the company's backing by prominent global executives and venture firms.
The interview process emphasizes practical coding ability, system design reasoning, and product intuition over algorithmic puzzles.
