Teaching profile
The successful candidate will join the Department’s teaching team. Teaching duties will span the core curriculum (integrated preparatory cycle, undergraduate levels L1 and L2), Chemical Engineering and the Master’s degree programmers, specifically within one of two tracks: "Processes and Renewable Resource Valorization" or "Formulated Product Engineering." The appointee will strengthen the Process Engineering teaching team, focusing particularly on sustainable material transformation processes while also covering fundamental Process Engineering topics (mass and heat transfer, etc.). Active contributions are especially sought for courses designed to provide engineering students with new approaches and practices regarding the design, sizing and operation of facilities for processing renewable raw materials.
Instruction will focus primarily on biorefining, waste and by-product valorization, and bioenergy production.
In the coming years, the appointee will be responsible for updating the curriculum, notably by integrating scientific and technological research advancements into the engineering programmed. The candidate is expected to assume educational leadership roles within the Process Engineering branch in the short term (e.g., track coordinator, branch head, or departmental head) and to participate in promoting the branch.
Duties may also include developing capstone practical work for the "Bioprocesses and Renewable Resources," "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies" and "Eco-design and Process Safety" tracks. Finally, the appointee will participate in or coordinate the potential creation of a Master’s degree programmed taught in English. She or he must possess extensive scientific and technological knowledge in order to operate as broadly as possible within the field of Process Engineering, focusing on applications aimed at producing molecules of interest, reducing environmental impact, and generating energy.
Research profile
The person recruited will carry out his/her activities within the TIMR unit (UTC-ESCOM) to deploy high-level research in the field of process engineering and product engineering applied to the innovative and responsible transformation and valorization of renewable resources.
The candidate will be expected to propose an ambitious scientific project, consistent with the laboratory’s strategic axes, aimed at strengthening existing expertise while driving new dynamics. Their work must address the major challenges of the ecological transition by developing innovative processes and products. The focus will be on designing high-performance approaches in fractionation, transformation, or formulation, utilizing advanced modeling tools for phenomenon understanding, process optimization, or intensification. This work must be part of a circular engineering approach focused on the integral valorization of resources, while ensuring optimal energy efficiency. Last but not leas, the person recruited will be called upon to be fully involved in the scientific and organizational governance of the unit, with the mission of proposing, leading and structuring the evolution of research themes and teams, by assuming a driving role in decision-making bodies and the laboratory's collective responsibilities.
The ideal candidate must possess solid expertise in process engineering, physical chemistry of dispersed systems, or interface engineering, enabling a multi-physics and multi-scale approach: from phenomena at the interface level to the industrial process.
The person recruited must demonstrate a proven ability to:
- Structure and lead research activities : be a driving force in initiating, federating, or structuring new team dynamics within the laboratory;
- Lead large-scale projects : manage national and international research projects (ANR, Europe, collaborative projects) in alignment with the unit’s strategic ambitions;
- Develop strategic partnerships : build and consolidate lasting academic & industrial collaborations and ensure the valorization of research results;
- Contribute to scientific leadership : actively participate in the management and evolution of the TIMR laboratory's thematic axes by fostering cross-functional and interdisciplinary collaborations.
