Overview

Are you an experienced professional in accounts receivable management and do you have a solid expertise in credit management? Do you feel at home in a multicultural working environment? Then this challenging role as Credit Controller at Miele is for you!

In this position, you are the liaison between our internal customer (sales and customer service department) and external customers/dealers when it comes to our accounts receivable position. You will also work closely with the shared service centre in Poland, which takes care of the administration down to the last detail. Together with your colleague credit controller, you are the point of contact for credit issues and debt collection within the Western Europe cluster.

Responsibilities

As a Credit Controller, you will be responsible for managing Miele's French-speaking debtor portfolio (for Belux & France) and monitoring associated credit risks. Drawing on your expertise, you will provide oversight of credit management processes, support continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure that established objectives and policies are consistently achieved and applied.

  • Negotiate with customers and resellers regarding unpaid debts, overdue balances, insolvency issues, and payment arrangements.
  • Approve credit limits, write‑off proposals, and bad debt provisions in accordance with the approval matrix.
  • Maintain strong relationships with collection agencies and credit insurers, including managing litigation processes and dispute resolution.
  • Escalate information to Key Account Managers and the Sales & Accounting Director where appropriate.
  • Provide guidance and training to relevant stakeholders on credit risk management policies and procedures, while promoting compliance and ensuring consistent application of Miele's credit control framework across the business.
  • Cooperate with the Shared Service Centre in Poland, which handles operational administration (bank transactions, refunds, allocations, etc.).
  • Analyse root causes of credit issues and identify opportunities to continuously improve credit performance and statistics.
  • Proactively report outstanding balances, credit risks, and collection performance to the Cluster Accounting Manager and Sales Directors.

Qualifications

  • Holds a degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or has acquired equivalent knowledge through relevant professional experience.
  • Brings at least 5 years of experience in credit management, accounts receivable, or a similar credit control role.
  • Demonstrates strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to achieve constructive outcomes while maintaining positive business relationships.
  • Combines a commercial mindset with a customer‑focused approach and sound risk awareness.
  • Has advanced Excel skills (including Pivot Tables and Power Pivot) and is comfortable working with ERP systems and Business Intelligence tools for analysis and reporting. Knowledge of SAP and/or Power BI is considered an asset.
  • Works in a structured, accurate, and well‑organised manner, with strong attention to detail.
  • Is confident communicating with stakeholders at all levels and possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French (C1) and English (C1).
