This role is part of the System on Chips (SoC’s) Design & Integration Team within STI, offering solutions for Secure Mobility and Retail, Secure Payment and Identity, IoT security, NFC infrastructure, and Secure Embedded transactions. The team delivers high‑quality solutions for Mobile Transactions (Mobile payment and security solutions for smart phones, watches and laptops) to demanding mobile customers. STI aims to become a market leader by leveraging its unique IP portfolio from NFC, Secure Elements, Wi‑Fi, and Bluetooth products to deliver solutions better than the sum of its parts.

Responsibilities

  • Verification and validation of SoC functionality and performance.
  • Development of FPGA verification platforms and delivery of these platforms to the Design and Project teams (Verification, Validation, Software) and to external customers.
  • Interface with firmware, software, architecture, and design teams as well as end users to understand product use cases and requirements.
  • Define the FPGA strategy for the design based on its architecture, expected use cases, technology limitations, and schedule constraints.
  • Develop methodology for handling non‑digital components within the FPGA (analog blocks, non‑volatile memories, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Design, Verification, Validation, Firmware, and Software teams to debug, correct issues, or identify work‑arounds.
  • Lead the development of external boards and interfaces when needed.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on the design and platform to customers.

  • Degree or Masters in Electronic and/or Computer Engineering with 7+ years of experience.
  • Knowledge of the entire FPGA flow from RTL through partitioning and synthesis to generation of bitfiles for loading onto FPGA.
  • Expertise in debugging FPGA designs using external debuggers, special builds, and other techniques.
  • Understanding of the architecture, elements, and functionality of SoC’s, including CPUs, DMA, MMU, PLL, memory, and peripheral interfaces.
  • Experience in the development of FPGAs containing significant analog content (bonus).
  • Understanding of software development processes for embedded CPUs and experience in developing and debugging software.
  • Expertise in using EDA tools for FPGA synthesis.
  • Experience with debugging pre‑ and post‑silicon designs, in simulation, and on the bench.

Personal Traits

  • Rigorous and methodical with good analytical skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable, capable of verifying, validating, and debugging at several levels and on many different platforms.
  • Attention to detail and tenacity/pugnacity in tracing, finding, and solving problems.
  • Ability to question and identify weaknesses in written specifications, tools, and environments.
  • Good team player who works effectively across teams and sites.
