Founding Data & AI Engineer (Corporate Strategy & M&A Analytics)
Company Description
Bayestra’s vision is to bring science and AI to M&A and corporate strategy. We help CEOs, CFOs, Heads of Strategy and M&A teams assess which corporate actions and strategic changes are most likely to create shareholder value — combining scientific evidence, proprietary econometric research and AI-enabled analysis.
Founded by a former Goldman Sachs Managing Director and Yale PhD under a Nobel Laureate, Bayestra combines top-tier finance experience with scientific rigour.
Role Description
We are looking for an exceptional Founding Data & AI Engineer to help build the technical foundation of the company — and grow with it.
Your work will span data, AI automation and software development. You will structure and automate the data workflows behind our client and research work, turn analytical methods into scalable software, and help build the foundations of Bayestra’s future platform.
You will work directly with the founding team, with unusually high autonomy and exposure to both technology and strategic decision-making. This is not a narrowly defined engineering role: we are looking for someone who wants to build, learn fast, take ownership and progressively shape the company.
What you’ll do
- Clean, structure and manage complex datasets, ensuring quality and traceability.
- Design reusable data repositories and workflows that scale across projects.
- Automate data collection, analysis and client deliverables.
- Put statistical models and LLM/AI-enabled workflows into production.
- Build internal tools and progressively develop product features.
- Help define Bayestra’s technical architecture and engineering practices.
What we’re looking for
- 2–5 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering or a related technical role. We care much more about ability, judgement and what you have built than years on a CV.
- Strong Python skills and experience with complex, real-world data.
- Experience with data pipelines, APIs, databases and automation.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals and the ability to build systems end-to-end.
- Strong interest in LLMs, AI-enabled workflows and automation.
- Exceptional intellectual curiosity, autonomy and learning speed.
- A builder mindset and comfort operating with limited structure.
What we offer
- Ownership: help shape Bayestra’s data, engineering and AI foundations from an early stage.
- Impact: work directly on real M&A and corporate strategy questions for senior decision-makers.
- Learning: work closely with an experienced founding team at the intersection of finance, science and AI.
- Trajectory: take on increasing responsibility as Bayestra grows and, for an exceptional performer, potentially evolve into a senior leadership role and long-term partner of the firm.
- Upside: join early and contribute to building an ambitious company with global potential.
