Job Overview
The Footwear Designer will work closely with the Design Director of Shoes and Accessories to execute on all aspects of product concept and design as led by the Creative Director. The role involves collaborating across departments to conceptualize and develop a premium footwear product assortment for Canada Goose and will be based in the new studio in Paris with travel included.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Design Team to observe and own the seasonal calendar as it relates to the company calendar.
- Research and design a designated number of styles from concept to proto approval, managing up to the Creative Director.
- Manage and execute special projects with the support of the Design Director and Design Team.
- Work closely with Merchandising partners to ensure all designs support the business objectives.
- Communicate designs, updates and changes throughout the proto process with PDE partners.
- Support in fittings on designated styles.
- Lead work with the Materials department to develop and adopt fabrics and trims for designated styles and collections.
- Mentor and develop the Associate Designer on technical aspects of Footwear Creation.
- Lead development mock‑ups to support seasonal concept.
- Travel to vendors and attend trade shows as needed to lead product research and development.
- Collaborate with the Design Team and Creative Director to create the seasonal color palette, owning a portion of the color direction development.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of applicable working Design experience within a Footwear Design role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and InDesign; 3D Design is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
- Strong knowledge of Footwear product construction.
- Strong knowledge of materials (fabrics and trims) and colour design.
- Excellent presentation skills of both design and final presentation.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Extensive experience presenting Design and Concept to a cross‑functional audience.
- Flexible, energetic and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Well organised and proficient in time management.
- High creativity with a sensibility that merges both high fashion and technical wear.
- Extensive experience working in partnership with Merchandising and Product Development.
- Anticipates market needs and how to prepare for them.
- Researches and conceptualises independently across different styles of Shoes.
- Critical eye on the market, runway and current trends.
- Brings newness to the design process through exploratory thinking and executing.
- Demonstrates creative ability that exceeds market expectations.
- Works as a team and maintains a high level of professionalism and discretion.

Compensation
Pay Range: €52,000.00 - €64,000.00.
