Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) Installation Supervisor
Job Description Summary
The Site Supervisor is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of on‑site activities associated with the installation, erection, testing support, and commissioning coordination of Fixed Series Compensation (FSC) equipment. The role oversees daily field execution for structural, mechanical, electrical, and electro‑mechanical installation activities related to Fixed Series Compensation platforms and associated systems.
The Site Supervisor serves as the primary on‑site coordination point between installation crews, subcontractors, OEM technical representatives, the customer, site and project management to ensure work is completed according to design drawings, quality standards, schedule requirements, and site safety procedures.
The Site Supervisor will provide daily reports about the progress of site activities as well as log into the technical tracker the dates of completion of each part of the scope. It’s also under his/her responsibility to approve timesheets from the installation team not only to ensure a proper allocation of the hours among base scope, quality issues, or change orders, but also to ensure the hours logged and activities performed are in accordance with the project budget to avoid margin degradation.
While working from the offsite (office) this role will coordinate with the PDG and region team and work to develop installation and commissioning plans and procedures. Remote US Only Option for this role. Travel up to 75% to project locations.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Supervise daily installation and erection activities for FSC equipment and associated systems
- Coordinate field activities across structural, mechanical, and electrical installation disciplines
- Ensure installation is performed in accordance with approved drawings, method statements, specifications, and OEM instructions
- Monitor progress against the project schedule and short‑term look‑ahead plans
- Identify field constraints and escalate risks, delays, or technical issues promptly
- Verify readiness for each installation phase before work begins
- Coordinate interfaces between delivered equipment, erection teams, electrical installers, and commissioning personnel
Safety
- Enforce site HSE requirements, permit‑to‑work controls, LOTO procedures, and safe work practices
- Lead or support toolbox (tailboard) talks, pre‑job briefings, and hazard reviews
- Ensure work at height, lifting operations, temporary grounding, and high‑voltage site safety practices are properly controlled
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with project and customer safety rules
- Stop work when unsafe conditions or acts are observed
- Support incident reporting, investigation, and corrective actions
Technical Oversight
- Oversee installation of major FSC components (FSC equipment, steel supports, insulated platform systems, buswork…)
- Confirm correct interpretation of erection drawings, general arrangements, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and vendor documentation
- Coordinate technical clarifications with engineering and OEM specialists
- Support inspection of clearances, alignment, torquing, labeling, equipment condition, and installation quality
- Verify proper handling and installation of sensitive high‑voltage equipment and components
Quality Control and Documentation
- Ensure installation complies with quality plans, ITPs, check sheets, and hold/witness points
- Verify completion of installation records, redlines, punch lists, and turnover documentation
- Coordinate inspections with QA/QC personnel, customer representatives, and OEM experts
- Track non‑conformances and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Develop and maintain FSC Construction Guides
- Maintain accurate site progress updates, daily reports, and field documentation
Pre‑commissioning and commissioning support
- Ensure installation completion and system readiness for testing
- Coordinate punch list closure prior to energization
- Support mechanical completion checks and handover to commissioning
- Assist with cable continuity checks, point‑to‑point checks, functional verification, and equipment readiness reviews
- Coordinate on‑site commissioning activities according with the commissioning plan
- Ensure as‑built updates and final turnover packages reflect field conditions
Required Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 5 years of proven field experience or certified Electrician/Lineman with minimum 10 years of experience
- Superintendent with trades management experience
- Experience supervising high‑voltage substation, FACTS, transmission, or series compensation installation projects
Desired Characteristics
- Working knowledge of FSC systems, substation equipment installation, or high‑voltage electrical/mechanical erection practices
- Ability to read and interpret SLD, general arrangement drawing, structural/erection drawings, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, installation procedures
- Familiarity with construction quality processes and inspection requirements
- Strong understanding of EHS requirements for high‑voltage project sites
- Be available for work on project sites in Canada and US
- Strong field leadership and decision‑making
- Excellent coordination and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple contractors and interfaces simultaneously
- High attention to safety, quality, and detail
- Practical problem‑solving in construction environments
- Ability to work under schedule pressure while maintaining standards

Remote US Only. Application Deadline: June 26, 2026. For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00.
