Flavorist II
Job Summary
Use chemistry, microbiology, engineering, and other sciences to study the principles underlying the processing and deterioration of foods. Analyze food content to determine levels of vitamins, fat, sugar, and protein; discover new food sources. Research ways to make processed foods safe, palatable, and healthful. Apply food science knowledge to determine the best ways to process, package, preserve, store, and distribute food.
Where You’ll Make a Difference
- Independently create high‑quality dairy flavors and contribute to project teams to deliver winning solutions for local & regional customers
- Apply strong sensory skills and raw‑material knowledge to develop, refine, and articulate flavor concepts across applications.
- Formulate flavors using both established and emerging technologies, exploring new molecules and delivery systems to enhance innovation.
- Manage mid‑level creative briefs autonomously while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional partners to meet customer expectations.
- Build strong internal networks and participate in technical exchanges to broaden understanding of raw materials, analytical methods, and flavor creation processes.
- Engage directly with customers (where applicable) to understand their brand needs and translate them into impactful flavor solutions.
- Contribute to category initiatives and innovation programs, bringing creative ideas and early problem‑solving capabilities to the team.
- Support continuous knowledge‑sharing by assisting senior flavorists in coaching, training, and developing junior team members.
- Demonstrate leadership by staying connected across regional teams, fostering collaboration, and strengthening strategic partnerships.
What Makes You The Right Fit
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, Food Technology, etc.). Master’s degree preferred.
- Completion of the IFF trainee course and Associate Flavorist program (or equivalent) with competitor.
- 5-8 years of hands‑on dairy flavor creation experience, with the ability to independently develop flavors for regional and global customers and work confidently on mid‑level briefs.
- Strong sensory skills, deep knowledge of raw materials, and proven capability in creative formulation.
- Familiarity with the French dairy industry and major players is a plus.
