Flagship Store Manager (Shanghai/Paris)
Role Overview
byFANG is an independent maison founded by designer Fang Yang and entrepreneur Grégoire Caillol. Operating between Paris and Shanghai, the maison develops couture, demi-mesure and ready-to-wear collections. Drawing on both French couture savoir-faire and Chinese artistic heritage, byFANG is known for its distinctive folded constructions inspired by zhezhi, the traditional art of paper folding. Since its launch, the maison has built an international clientele across Europe, China and the Middle East, offering contemporary designs that combine craftsmanship, innovation and architectural form.
Role Overview
With the opening of new flagship stores in Shanghai in 2026 and in Paris 2027, byFANG seeks an experienced international luxury retail professional to join the Maison at a pivotal stage of its development. The position will begin with an initial 18-month assignment in Shanghai, China to manage the launch of the new Flagship Store.
The Flagship Launch Manager is responsible for the day-to-day performance, operational excellence, and client experience of byFANG’s Shanghai flagship to be opened in May 2026. This is a senior on-site leadership role combining hands-on retail management, team leadership, and rigorous execution of the Maison’s luxury standards.
Acting as a primary sales representative in Shanghai, the role ensures flawless store operations, elevated client experience, and disciplined execution of commercial priorities defined by Paris HQ.
Key Responsibilities
- Flagship Operations & Performance
- Lead and be accountable for the Flagship sales targets and growth objectives.
- Ensure flawless daily operations of the Shanghai flagship, including opening and closing procedures, appointment flow, and floor management.
- Execute commercial priorities and sales objectives defined by Paris HQ.
- Monitor and optimize store KPIs, including conversion rate, average transaction value, appointment efficiency, and sell-through.
- Guarantee impeccable merchandising, visual presentation, and space discipline at all times.
- Client Experience Excellence
- Ensure consistent delivery of an elevated luxury client experience across all client touchpoints.
- Supervise private appointments, fittings, and VIP visits with discretion and precision.
- Enforce Maison service rituals, hospitality standards, and etiquette in line with Paris HQ guidelines.
- Lead, coach, and develop the Shanghai flagship team (2 to 3 people).
- Organize schedules, daily briefings, and performance follow-up.
- Act as a role model on the floor in behavior, service excellence, and professional posture.
- Ensure disciplined execution of CRM actions and follow-ups.
- Support client development initiatives through proactive in-store engagement.
- Identify high-potential clients and escalate appropriately to Paris HQ and Client Relations Manager.
- Coordination & Reporting
- Provide regular operational and performance reports to Paris HQ.
- Coordinate closely with Marketing and Client Development teams during events and activations.
- Proactively escalate operational risks, staffing needs, or client experience issues.
Candidate Profile
- 8–12 years’ experience in high-luxury retail, with proven track in managing a flagship or a boutique.
- Previous Experience with China Luxury / Lifestyle market.
- Strong understanding of high-net-worth client expectations and international luxury service standards.
- Hands-on, floor-oriented leader with strong discipline and attention to detail.
- Native Mandarin and fluent English required.
