Firewall Engineer

We are supporting a major organisation on a strategic programme focused on strengthening network security and modernising data centre infrastructure. This is a key architect-level role within a highly complex enterprise environment.

You will be working across a broad and modern technology stack including F5, VXLAN EVPN, Cisco ACI, VMware NSX, Segment Routing, and MPLS, with a strong focus on firewalling and micro‑segmentation strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and design firewalling and micro‑segmentation solutions aligned to business and security requirements
• Translate high‑level security strategy into scalable technical architecture
• Optimise firewall configurations, performance, and overall security posture
• Collaborate closely with network and cyber defence teams to ensure end‑to‑end security
• Partner with Product Owners and Product Managers on strategic decisions
• Support vendor engagement and continuous technology improvement
• Guide and support implementation teams within the Firewall squad
• Produce architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical presentations
• Contribute to operational stability, security, and ongoing support

Required Experience

• Strong background as a Network / Security Architect in complex enterprise environments
• Deep knowledge of security architecture principles and best practices
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and influence technical teams
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

• Network: LAN, WAN, MPLS, VPN, switching, routing, load balancing, proxies
• Scripting and automation
