Financial Risk Manager
Financial Structural Risk Manager
Join us as a Financial Structural Risk Manager to secure Qonto’s financial foundations as we transition into a regulated bank. You’ll tackle liquidity and interest rate risks, design the policies that frame ALM operations, and build models that directly impact Qonto’s PM&L. You will work in a pair with an experienced Financial Risk Manager, reporting to the Head of Financial Risk Management.
Responsibilities
- Identify, measure and monitor structural risks: liquidity, interest rate, solvency, and FX risks to ensure Qonto’s financial stability across all dimensions.
- Design and maintain financial risk policies: write frameworks that define how the ALM team operates; set the rules, monitor compliance, and give ALM autonomy within those boundaries.
- Build risk models and dashboards: use SQL and Python daily to value complex financial instruments (bonds, swaps), track key risk indicators, and improve modelling infrastructure.
- Challenge Finance and ALM teams: ensure their strategies align with Qonto’s risk appetite and regulatory constraints; bring data‑backed analysis, not just opinions.
- Contribute to regulatory exercises: help structure the departments’ processes for Qonto’s future status as a Credit Institution (ILAAP, ICAAP, and supervisory reporting).
Qualifications
- 5+ years in Structural or Financial Risk Management: experience managing liquidity, interest rate, or market risks in a bank or financial institution.
- Technical proficiency in SQL and Python: manipulate data, use financial libraries, and build models from scratch without external dependency.
- Deep knowledge of financial instruments: bonds, interest‑rate swaps, and risk metrics such as LCR, NSFR, VaR, sensitivities.
- FRM certification is a plus.
- Clear communication of complex topics: explain financial concepts to non‑experts and engage confidently with stakeholders when risk positions need to be defended.
- Fluent English; French is a plus.
Benefits & Impact
- Direct PM&L impact: your analysis guides strategic decisions on asset allocation, hedging, and revenue optimisation.
- A pivotal moment becoming a bank: Qonto is structuring its banking operations; you’ll build the financial risk framework for a Credit Institution.
- Trust‑but‑verify methodology: set policies and monitor compliance; ALM executes with autonomy and you define the boundaries.
- Pair‑working model: work alongside an experienced Financial Risk Manager with direct access to leadership.
