Our client is a luxury hotel/resort in Kenya, offering world-class guest experiences in a remote and culturally rich setting. The property emphasizes high standards of service, operational excellence, and financial integrity.
The Financial Controller will be a key member of the executive team, responsible for the overall financial leadership of a luxury resort operating in a remote and culturally diverse environment. Reporting to the General Manager, with a dotted line to Group Finance, the role ensures robust financial controls, compliance with group standards, and provides strategic financial guidance to support operational excellence and long-term sustainability.
This position requires a seasoned hospitality finance professional with proven experience in international, remote, or developing-market locations—ideally within East Africa—and the ability to thrive in a high-end resort environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to join a prestigious international hotel group and play a pivotal role in the financial stewardship of a luxury resort in one of East Africa’s most iconic destinations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the finance department and oversee all accounting functions.
- Full responsibility for financial management including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, budgets, forecasts, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, internal policies, and audit requirements.
- Manage tax, statutory reporting, and external auditors.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making by the GM and executive team.
- Implement and maintain financial controls, processes, and systems suitable for a multi-currency operation.
- Support business growth by identifying financial opportunities, cost optimization, and profitability improvements.
- Mentor, develop, and manage finance staff.
Mandatory Requirements:
- International work experience outside home country.
- 5–7 years as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader in the hospitality industry.
- Executive team experience as a strategic partner to senior management.
- Experience in luxury resorts, safari lodges, or island properties.
- Exposure to remote or hardship locations in developing markets.
- Multi-currency accounting experience.
- Fully qualified accountant: ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or CPA.
