Responsibilities

• Report hierarchically to the Head of Finance Project Managers, and functionally to the Project Manager.
• Work as part of a project team interacting with the core project team, Project Quality & Sub‑System Manager, Chief Engineer, Chief Operations, Project Contract Manager, Project Planning Manager.
• Provide finance expert functions such as Tax and Customs, Treasury and Financing, Internal Audit & Risk Management.
• Participate in overall Project Management process jointly with the Project Manager.
• Act as a Business Partner.
• Supervise, analyse and support overall finance topics of the project.
• Control the financial performance of the project and propose action plans to improve contract margin, cash profile and mitigate risks.
• Raise “Early Warnings” when necessary to increase management attention.
• Add insight and accuracy to project financial information (improve accuracy on forecasts, revenue, cash, cost, etc.).
• Control interflows of internal purchase orders.
• Liaise with other finance expert functions (Tax and Customs, Treasury and Financing, Internal Audit & Risk Management, Accounting and Finance efficiency, etc.).
• Establish strategic network with external financial players involved in the project.
• Contribute in negotiation processes to secure project success (customer and/or partner).
• Support PM in risks and opportunities process and sign‑off contingencies/committed savings.
• Partner with PM and CM in Contract & Claim Management (focus on finance topics & risk profile).
• Prepare jointly with the project team the project reviews content and reassess profitability every semester.
• Explain, justify and keep record in detail of the estimates.
• Interpret and implement the global financial strategy set at the tender stage.
• Participate and influence negotiations (price review, financial terms and conditions, value‑add operations, claims, etc.).
• Challenge financial information throughout the project process (consistent early warning for financial impacts of operational performances and risk mitigation).
• Monitor compliance with all governance and reporting rules & regulations in the project.
• Corroborate permanent compliance of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Understand the forex and financing strategy considered at the tender stage; ensure its implementation at CPR0 and alert management in case of deviation.
• Understand the Project Organization (PxO) focused on financial flows.
• Understand contractual terms and conditions and advise on all financial matters in contract, focusing on guiding on competitiveness improvement.
• Support Claim Management together with Project Manager & Contract Manager, focusing on finance topics and risk profile.
• Manage and analyze costs, revenue and profitability.
• Prepare timely forecasts for sales, costs, margin and cash.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in business school, engineering school or university equivalent.
• +5 (preferably +10) years’ experience in Finance.
• Auditing and/or project operational background is an advantage.
• Solid organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
• Excellent knowledge in MS Excel and knowledge of SAP.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• MBA or Master’s in Finance (desired).
• Previous experience in a railway company in an equivalent position.
• Previous experience in industrial projects in an equivalent position.
