Job Description

Finance Officer - Iran South - Kerman Based

The position holder will act and align all finance related assignments according to policies, Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and donor requirements to ensure quality and transparency. The Finance Officer will take an active role in supporting field-based finance staff comply with NRC and donor guidelines.

Role And Responsibilities

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Assist with the implementation of the NRC's Finance portfolio according to plan of action
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the Finance Department
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.
  • Development of holistic and needs based programmes, including cash-based interventions

and marked based programmes.

  • Training of line managers and staff with financial responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities

  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the Finance Department
  • Maintain all financial records properly (hard copy and soft version). Financial verification

of contracts, payment requests and purchase requisitions up to the authorized threshold

and payment preparation.

  • Finalize the monthly closure.
  • Financial verification of the implementing partners’ reports.
  • Implementation of reconciliation project
  • Assist with budget monitoring and financial reporting for Area.
  • Finance induction for new staff.
  • Ensure financial support mechanism for the on-going operations.

  • Minimum 4 years of work experience in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in an NGO (national or international) or UN
  • Documented results related to the position's responsibilities.
  • Solid knowledge of computer software and modern accounting systems
  • Flexibility to travel upon needs.
  • Context related skills, knowledge and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or any other relevant field
  • Proven knowledge and skills related to Finance in the Iran context and Iranian laws.
  • Fluency in English and Persian, both written and spoken
  • Excellent knowledge of MS office, especially excel

About The Team

NRC in the Islamic Republic of Iran

NRC started operations in Iran in 2012. We currently deliver humanitarian assistance in 9 provinces in the sectors of Education, Food Security and livelihoods, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Shelter construction, as well as Information, Counseling and Legal Assistance (ICLA). We co-lead several technical inter-agency working groups and provide capacity building to humanitarian partners in country. Next to our programs, NRC Iran also built an advocacy unit to develop joint messages and initiatives among INGOs to improve rights of the displaced. Following several recent breakthroughs, NRC Iran is scaling up substantially its activities in support of the Government of Iran efforts towards an estimated 3,6 million Afghans residing in country, and is expanding its programme unit.
