Finance Intern
About the position
As a Finance Intern, you will join our G&A team in Bordeaux and work directly with Laura, our Finance Manager.
At pony, the G&A team is made up of 5 people supporting all business units across finance, legal, HR, and performance. You will get involved in a wide range of finance activities , from day-to-day accounting and reporting to financial modelling and strategic projects.
This is a hands-on internship where you will work on real topics alongside the team, in a fast-growing startup environment as we are currently expanding into new cities and launching new vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Performance Monitoring You will analyze financial performance (revenue, costs, margins), track and explain variances between actuals, budget, and forecasts, and help build reporting tools (dashboards, reports) that support decision-making. You will also contribute to ad hoc financial analyses used to understand performance drivers and improve business decisions.
Accounting & Financial Operations You will participate in monthly closing processes, help monitor accounts payable and receivable, support payment follow-up, and assist in coordinating with our external accountants in France and Belgium.
Financial Modelling & Strategic Projects You will work on our core financial model, helping to keep it up to date as we launch new cities, vehicles, and products. You will run scenario analyses to support real strategic decisions, such as the impact of different transportation modes on profitability or financial targets, and support the team on financial forecasting projects.
Financing & Investor Relations You will support the team on ongoing financing operations, including our next debt raise. Concretely, you will help prepare materials such as presentations, data rooms, and business plans, and conduct relevant market research and analysis.
Profile
- Education: Currently enrolled in a top business school or engineering school, seeking for a 6 month internship
- Analytical mindset: You are comfortable working with large Excel/Google Sheets models, can extract key insights from raw data, and enjoy translating numbers into actionable recommendations.
- Rigour & attention to detail: You are structured, thorough, and uncomfortable leaving loose ends, you care about getting things right
- Communication: You communicate clearly and work well with cross-functional teams, from field staff to management
- Curiosity & proactivity: You ask questions, take initiative, and are genuinely eager to learn
Interview Process
- HR Screening with Laura N. : A 30-minute video call to ensure alignment of expectations
- Culture Fit: A short written exercise (10 minutes) to confirm value alignment
- Case Study & Manager Interview with Laura L. : A practical exercise to validate technical skills, followed by an interview to present your work and discuss the role in more detail
