Finance Analyst - Equity Research, MidCap
Role Overview
TP ICAP’s Equity Research platform is a trusted provider of high-quality, independent research across European markets, with a particular strength in Small and Mid-Cap equities. Our MidCap team plays a critical role in identifying under-researched opportunities and delivering differentiated insights to institutional investors across Europe.
As a Finance Analyst within the MidCap Equity Research team, you will support the coverage of Italian and broader European Small and Mid-Cap companies. You will be instrumental in producing insightful, investment-led research, contributing to the development of financial models, and helping to shape market views that inform investor decision‑making.
This role offers strong exposure to senior analysts, corporate management teams, and institutional clients. It is well‑suited to an intellectually curious, detail‑oriented individual looking to build a long‑term career in equity research within a fast‑paced, high‑performance environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Support coverage of Italian and European Small and Mid‑Cap companies across selected sectors
- Build, maintain, and enhance detailed financial models and valuation frameworks
- Contribute to the preparation of high‑quality research publications, including earnings notes, sector reports, and thematic pieces
- Analyse company financials, industry trends, and macroeconomic developments to form robust investment views
- Attend company results presentations, investor meetings, and industry conferences, summarising key insights
- Work closely with senior analysts to develop differentiated investment recommendations
- Effectively communicate investment ideas and market views to internal Sales teams and institutional clients
- Monitor equity markets, news flow, and relevant developments impacting covered sectors and companies
- Support the production of written research outputs, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and timeliness
Experience / Competences
Essential- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in Equity Research (sell‑side or buy‑side), including internships
- Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline
- Fluency in French (mandatory), with proven written and verbal communication skills
- Fluent in English and Italian (written and spoken)
- Proven financial analysis and modelling skills, with a solid understanding of valuation methodologies
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and insightful research
- Commercial mindset with the confidence to articulate and defend investment views, balanced with intellectual humility
- Demonstrated interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to build effective professional relationships
- High level of motivation, resilience, and ability to perform under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint); experience with FactSet or similar platforms is advantageous
- Demonstrated interest in European Small and Mid‑Cap equity markets
- Experience covering Italian equities or relevant sector exposure
- Familiarity with ESG / extra‑financial analysis frameworks and data platforms
- Progress towards, or interest in pursuing, a professional qualification (e.g., CFA)
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high‑quality output
- Ability to synthesise complex information into clear, actionable insights
