Field Service Engineer / Service Technician

Do you enjoy the practical hands‑on elements of mechanical engineering and have the desire to work on industry‑leading, highly complex equipment?

This specialist equipment manufacturer is searching for a well‑rounded Service Engineer / Service Technician to join their team (equipment training provided).

This role does NOT require PLC programming experience, there is a dedicated team of Software Engineers. This position is more mechanical hardware focussed.

  • €40K – €50K Basic Salary (dependent on experience)
  • Company Car (with private use allowed)

About The Role

As a Service Engineer / Service Technician you will work from a home office and be responsible for:

  • 80% mechanical and 20% electrical role.
  • Working within a service engineering team supporting FMCG manufacturers across France.
  • Attending a low number of customer calls as each case can be extremely complicated and time‑consuming.
  • Rarely operating as part of an installation team to complete new equipment installations, commissioning and user training.
  • Supporting customers outside of France in emergencies.
  • Working to preventative maintenance and installation work booked months in advance while also reacting to more pressing breakdowns and repairs.
  • Coordinating activities and movements with the engineering planner.
  • Conducting routine service and calibration work, including fault finding, problem resolution and repair.
  • Completing service visit reports.

About You

The successful candidate will have at least 2+ years of service engineering or technician experience on complex equipment such as Industrial Automation, Industrial Machinery, Robotics, Scientific Equipment, Analytical Instruments, Food Processing, Semiconductor Manufacturing, and other such equipment.

You must speak advanced level English and French, be mechanically biased, comfortable with travel and nights away, and have a logical methodical approach to fault‑finding.

A degree‑level education is beneficial but not essential; experience in cleanroom or sterile environments is also advantageous.

A valid local driving licence and the right to work in France are essential; sponsorship not offered.
