The Field Representative is responsible for delivering day-to-day agronomic and contractual support to McCain’s growers in France. The role ensures that good agricultural practices, regenerative standards and contractual requirements are implemented in the field, contributing directly to raw material quality, yield performance and grower satisfaction. This role strengthens McCain’s field presence and operational delivery in France, absorbing farmer-engagement and reporting activities that were previously handled by dedicated roles and integrating them into the normal scope of agronomy field work.

Responsibilities

• Provide agronomic advice and on-farm support to growers on crop planning, planting, fertilization, irrigation, pest and disease management, and harvest operations.
• Support implementation of regenerative agriculture and sustainability practices, translating company standards into pragmatic, field-level actions (soil health, cover crops, input efficiency, biodiversity).
• Monitor crop development and field performance, conducting regular farm visits to assess crop status, risks and compliance with contract specifications.
• Follow up on contract execution, ensuring growers understand quality, delivery window and volume expectations, and that issues are identified early and escalated when needed.
• Collect and enter field and quality data into digital tools and systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness to support agronomy analytics and decision-making.
• Support the deployment of new varieties and agronomic practices, in coordination with Agronomy & Applied Research and Agronomy R&D & Variety teams.
• Participate in field trials, demos and grower days, helping to implement protocols, collect observations and communicate results.
• Act as first point of contact for growers, providing responsive support and channeling feedback to the broader Agriculture team.
• Contribute to risk management, identifying field, weather or quality risks and helping define mitigation actions.
• Promote McCain’s values and safety culture in all grower interactions and internal activities.

Requirements

• Education: Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science or related field (BSc minimum).
• 3+ years’ experience in field agronomy, advisory services or technical roles in agriculture (potatoes experience preferred).
• Solid understanding of potato cropping systems, soils, fertilization, crop protection and harvest/storage basics.
• Comfortable working with digital tools, mobile apps and basic data entry/analysis.
• Valid driving license and ability to travel frequently within the assigned region.
• Fluency in French; English is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to build trust with growers.
• Practical, hands-on, solution-oriented mindset.
• Good planning and prioritization skills, capable of managing a high volume of field visits.
