Description of Work
Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Manager I at a multi-custody female correctional facility, this position is responsible for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive, preventive and routine maintenance program that ensures the facility is maintained properly with particular emphasis on safety and security.
- Supervising, planning, reviewing and evaluating the work of subordinates; providing on‑job and external training, counseling and administering discipline; directing and supervising subordinates to promote effective working relationships.
- Developing and adjusting short‑term assignments, schedules and priorities.
- Making final technical decisions in a variety of trades; requisitioning and purchasing materials and supplies; maintaining stock‑control procedures for tools, parts and supplies.
- Advising management concerning technical aspects of maintaining, replacing or renovating equipment and facilities.
- Providing maintenance of high voltage electrical systems, special or unique facilities, telecommunications, operation of water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Acting as the primary liaison to designers, contractors, local officials and regulatory agencies; representing the facility and participating in overall maintenance department management.
- Working under limited administrative and technical supervision.
- Inspecting the facility regularly for maintenance needs and safety hazards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Management Preferences
- Documented supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities.

Salary Range
$52,592 – $92,036
Minimum Education and Experience
High School or GED diploma AND four (4) years of progressive experience in facility maintenance or construction, including experience in at least three (3) building or mechanical trades and one (1) year of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
