Are you ready to further develop your underwriting expertise in Property and contribute to a leading facultative portfolio? Munich Re F&C is looking for a motivated and skilled Junior Property Underwriter to join our team, based in Paris . Attached to the Facultative & Corporate Department of the French branch based in Paris, you will work in a collaborative and international environment under the responsibility of the Head of Facultative F&C France. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and profitability of an assigned Property Facultative portfolio, support the implementation of underwriting and client strategies, and contribute to the development of service offerings, with the objective of strengthening the Group’s leading position in the French and BeLux markets. You will ensure the quality of facultative underwriting, contribute to the development of technical expertise, perform risk assessments, and draft facultative reinsurance business. The portfolio covers the Property reinsurance needs of our French, Belgian, and Luxembourg cedants and brokers, offering broad exposure to international clients and market practices.

YOUR JOB

  • Underwriting Property risks with lower limits, supported by a senior underwriter and in accordance with applicable underwriting guidelines.
  • Ensuring high‑quality underwriting, including the analysis of complex reinsurance risks and products: risk assessment, pricing, and the establishment of reinsurance terms and conditions, in line with underwriting policies, authorities, targets, and client strategies.
  • Supporting risk management and portfolio monitoring activities.
  • Identifying and analyzing the needs of existing and prospective clients.
  • Contributing to the definition of client strategies and supporting commercial actions, planning, and preparation within internal client teams.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and brokers, in line with the agreed strategy.
  • Collaborating actively within internal working groups and contributing to internal and external events.
  • Participating in and, over time, leading client meetings, as well as taking part in market events.
  • Ensuring accurate file management and contributing to the smooth running of processes within the department.
  • Acting as an active interface with Commercial Management and other technical departments (e.g. Treaty Underwriting and other lines of business), supporting technical approaches, services, and cross‑functional collaboration.

YOUR PROFILE

  • A university degree or an equivalent insurance qualification.
  • Initial knowledge or exposure to reinsurance and underwriting.
  • The ability to analyze underwriting information effectively and apply it in practice.
  • Interest in data analysis and the use of new technologies.
  • A strong sense of responsibility, autonomy, and rigor, combined with a collaborative team mindset.
  • Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken; additional languages are an advantage.
