Export Control Investigator
What if your next investigation could shape global compliance?
If you're experienced in Export Controls and enjoy investigating complex compliance matters rather than simply interpreting regulations, this could be a role worth exploring.
I'm partnering exclusively with a global aerospace and defence organisation that is looking for an Export Control Investigator to join its Legal & Compliance team in Toulouse, France .
In this position, you'll strengthen the organisation's ability to investigate potential Export Control violations while supporting the preparation of disclosures to relevant authorities when required. You'll work across multiple business units, products, and regions, collaborating with Legal, Compliance, and Export Control professionals to ensure investigations are consistent, thorough, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and coordinate export control investigations, from fact-finding and regulatory assessment through to identifying root causes and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate external legal counsel and specialist advisers where required.
- Prepare investigation reports, regulatory submissions, and documentation for internal governance and, where appropriate, relevant authorities.
- Analyse investigation trends and KPIs, presenting findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, and business teams to strengthen export control programmes, governance, and investigation processes.
- Work closely with regional teams to promote the consistent application of export control policies, escalation procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Contribute to best practices by supporting training initiatives and raising awareness across the organisation.
You'll likely be a strong fit if you have:
- 7+ years of experience in Export Control Compliance with a strong understanding of U.S. Export Control Regulations (ITAR and EAR) .
- Experience conducting or supporting compliance, regulatory, or internal investigations within a complex international organisation.
- The ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across different functions and seniority levels.
- Strong organisational skills, sound judgement, and the ability to manage confidential matters with discretion.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Additional languages would be an advantage.
