Expert Synthetic Diagnostics – Visible Spectroscopy (SoS)

For work on one of our customer project, ITER, we are looking for an expert to develop and strengthen the visible spectroscopy synthetic diagnostic code SoS (Simulation of Spectra), with a view to its production-grade deployment and integration into the IMAS framework.

Mission

• Integrate SoS into the IMAS framework (data exchange, IDS compliance)
• Contribute to the open-source release of the code (Python and/or Fortran)
• Develop MSE models (Finite-Ion-Grid, Marchuk) and CXRS modelling
• Generate synthetic spectra as training inputs for ML/Bayesian workflows (Minerva)
• Ensure SoSCASPER interoperability and EIRENE-SOLPS/ASTRA workflows
• Write progress reports and technical documentation

Profile

• Experience in visible plasma spectroscopy in a fusion environment (JET, AUG, WEST…)
• Proficiency in Matlab, Python, Fortran
• Knowledge of IMAS tools (Access Layer, Data Dictionary)
• Experience in spectroscopic analysis: Stark/Doppler broadening, Balmer series, CXRS/MSE
• Interest in software quality practices (CI, regression testing)
• Ability to produce technical deliverables in English

• Duration: 12 months
• Location: mostly remote, with 2 annual in-person meetings (Cadarache + DA Spring meeting)
