Founded in 1929 by the Chambre syndicale des négociants en diamants, perles, pierres précieuses et des lapidaires, the Laboratoire Français de Gemmologie is the oldest independent gemmological testing laboratory in the world. Located in the heart of Paris's 9th arrondissement, just steps from the great Houses of Parisian jewellery, and affiliated with the UFBJOP, it is the only laboratory in France authorized to issue analysis reports for all categories of gemstones: diamonds, coloured stones, and pearls.
RJC and ISO 9001 certified, and COFRAC ISO 17025 accredited, LFG relies on state-of-the-art instrumentation and an exceptional gem reference collection built up since 1929. Recognized internationally as a benchmark by major jewellery Houses and auction houses, LFG carries out well-established research activities and enjoys strong international standing. It is in this context of ongoing growth that LFG is seeking its future Expert Gemmologist.
Your responsabilities
Within our team of gemmologists, and in direct connexion with laboratory management, you will:
- Analyze gemstones, primarly coloured stones (identification, treatment and geographic origin determination);
- Establish, uphold, and improve the laboratory's scientific procedures;
- Issue and co-sign analysis reports;
- Manage and oversee the use of equipment;
- Provide internal training and support the skills development of gemmologists;
- Lead international conferences (an average of 2 per year);
- Contribute to research work and monitor scientific developments;
- Help develop the laboratory and enhance its international reputation.
Your Profile
- PhD or Master\'s degree in gemmology;
- 10 years of experience in a recognized gemmological laboratory;
- Fluent English required (international environment and outreach).
You combine scientific precision, a strong team spirit, and a genuine interest in mentoring others. Your internationally recognized expertise enables you to represent the laboratory within the global gemmological community.
