Position Overview

Expert en sinistres - Division des risques spéciaux (SRD) – (Montréal, QC)

Investigate all types of personal and commercial insurance claims, assess damages and negotiate settlements on behalf of insurance companies or self‑insured companies.

Qualifications

• A university degree or college diploma specializing in criminal law, law and security, or business administration.
• Specialization in errors and omissions and/or directors’ and officers’ liability files.
• Experience in claims adjustment – Liability.
• Valid AMF Claims Adjuster License – Class 5A.
• 7–10 years experience in claims adjustment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Bilingualism an asset – Good oral and written communication skills in both French and English.
• Negotiation skills.
• Good time management skills.
• Demonstrate team spirit.
• Dedicated to customer service.

Responsibilities

• Gather statements from insured parties and/or witnesses/third parties by interviewing them tactfully and attentively, in accordance with clients’ quality and customer service standards.
• Investigate the facts and circumstances to determine the cause and liability for the claim; communicate well‑founded recommendations to clients.
• Assess and determine the extent of damage according to clients’ standards.
• Negotiate a fair and satisfactory settlement for all parties involved.
• Participate in business development by meeting regularly with current clients.
• Perform assigned tasks in accordance with established work standards, policies and procedures.
