Experimental Quantum Physicist
Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems.
The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously!
We're a diverse team of 250+ brilliant minds from over 35 countries united by a single goal: to revolutionise computing with a practical fault-tolerant quantum machine. Are you ready to take on unprecedented challenges and contribute to revolutionising technology? Join us, and let's shape the future of quantum computing together!
About the role
The Performance Optimization (PoP) team aims at using advanced ML & Optimization tools on all the lifecycle of a quantum chip: design, simulation, calibration, operation, error correction. You will be joining a passionate and focused team within an amazing organisation dedicated to build a universal and fault-tolerant quantum computer without taking any detours.
As an Experimental Quantum Physicist on the PoP team, you will drive the innovation and improvement of our cat-qubit processors. You'll measure, characterize, and optimize our quantum circuits, while also enhancing our experimental tools and setup. Your role involves integrating machine learning and optimization into our hardware design and collaborating with internal teams to advance our company's experimental roadmap.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the device theorists and machine learning research scientists of the team to conceive new ways of characterising and optimising the hardware
- Implement measurements, run and analyse data
- Drive new gate measurements and calibration methods from idea to integration in the cat qubit quantum processors
- Apply state-of-the-art methods of control of superconducting circuits to cat qubits
- Contribute to the expansion of the knowledge base of Alice & Bob and the continuous training of experimentalists
- Manage external collaborations
Requirements
- PhD or postdoc and 3+ years of experience driving experimental work in quantum mechanics, preferably in the field of superconducting quantum circuits
- Expertise in Microwave control and measurement of superconducting quantum circuits
- Solid experience with data analysis and comparison to theory or numerical simulations (preferably with Python)
- First-hand experience with circuit design, simulation and error correction protocols
- Strong gate design and benchmarking skills
- Ability to showcase Scientific Writing skills
- Professional-level English proficiency, both written and spoken.
- Our success is your success : own it with our BSPCE plan
- Direct IP Compensation: Earn substantial bonuses for driving the core patents that define our quantum architecture.
- Flexible remote policy, up to 40 % a month
- Parental Plan including additional benefits such as crèche support or additional days-off to take care of under 12 years old children
- Subsidised membership with Urban Sports Club
- Mental health support with moka.care
- 25-day vacation policy (as per French law) + RTT
- Half of transportation cost coverage (as per French law), or yearly allowance for the die-hard bicycle users
- Competitive health coverage, with Helium/Axa
- Meal vouchers with Swile, as well as access to a fully equipped and regularly stocked kitchen
- French language courses covered by the company for those interested
Recruitment Process
- Screening Call with Grace, Talent Acquisition Specialist (30-45 min)
- Technical Interview/Presentation with the Team (60 min)
- Leadership/Fit Interview (45 min)
- Reference check
