We are looking for people who LOVE people to join our Event Director Team! Welcome potential Event Directors! On this site you will be given an in-depth look at what it’s like to be an Event Director at StarQuest. We hope you will gain a clear understanding of this one of a kind, full-time position.

The main goals of an Event Director at StarQuest are to build relationships with our guests, mentor your staff, and make sure the experience is the real award. This comes along with problem solving, using good judgement, and being a stand out leader and organization expert.

Make sure everything happens, when it’s supposed to happen, how it’s supposed to happen.

Event Directing At A Glance

On Season (January 2 – July 14)

On Site @ The Event

  • Attend 2 weeks of Road Warrior in person Training each January.
  • Attend and event direct at least 17 Regional Events and 3 National Events.
  • Co-Manage 9 Road Warriors & 3 Judges, venue staff, and a truck driver at each event alongside the event’s Event Concierge.
  • Go-to person alongside the Event Concierge for all guest relations. You are the face of StarQuest and will greet each studio director and guest as they enter the building. Anticipate and address studios’ questions, comments, and concerns to deliver an overall remarkable experience and impeccable customer service to everyone who walks through the doors.
  • Mentor the Road Warriors and Judges to ensure proper growth throughout the season. Be a true leader on site and constantly provide growth opportunities for the staff.
  • Manage load in and load out of a 56 foot semi truck at different venues each week.
  • Efficiently troubleshoot all equipment including A/V (previous A/V equipment knowledge is preferred, however, you will receive extensive training on all SQ equipment).
  • Ensure consistent quality of the show at all times by overall upkeep of environment, venue, staff, equipment, and guests.
  • Review auditor paperwork (Judges’ score sheets) throughout the competition and proof before each award ceremony while being aware of the big picture and overall integrity of the competition elements.
  • Review Judges’ critiques and provide feedback throughout the event.
  • Provide breaks to the Stage Manager, Auditor, and any other staff member who may need it.
  • Know the StarQuest DNA inside and out – rules, awards, best practices, etc. This role involves extensive preparation, but it’s up to you to execute and maintain each week!

Pre & Post Event @ Home

  • Tech advance each venue.
  • Communicate with each studio prior to the event start date. Make sure the studios entries are correct, all changes have been made, all studios are paid in full, and the competition is ready to start.
  • Proof schedule outlines and final schedules to ensure proper timing is allotted and that guest’s needs are met.
  • Proof all documents before it comes on site including the staff food sheet, travel log, awards breakdowns, etc.
  • Communicate with your on site team to ensure everyone is prepared to execute a successful event and send post show reports to debrief each event (Road Warriors, Event Concierge, Judges, and Truck Drivers).
  • Any other tasks related to preparing for each event and wrapping up loose ends after it completes.
  • Consistent meetings and mentor sessions with leadership to ensure your continued growth throughout the year!

Off-Season (July 14 – December 31)

  • Contact studios from your regional events to gain feedback on their experience, prospect new studios and help studio owners begin their registration for the next season.
  • Each Event Director is assigned an additional department to work with during the off-season. Some possibilities are Judges hiring, Road Warrior hiring, Equipment prep, etc.
  • Travel to NC for 1-2 weeks in Novemeber/December for onsite Event Director training.
  • Ongoing virtual training will be happening throughout all 5 months.

What’s It Like?

This may be the most challenging, but also the most rewarding job you will take on. You will work long hours with minimal sleep and manage teams who are also working long hours with little sleep. It will be physically and mentally demanding and rewarding.

We have high expectations for not only our Event Directors, but also every member of our staff. We are dedicated to providing the best experience possible for every guest attending each weekend. We are also dedicated to providing the best overall experience for our staff. We want to ensure that each individual grows, not only as a SQ employee, but as a human being.

We are aware that each person hired has a different goal and passion in life. We want to help you achieve that goal and grow as much as possible while you are here. All of our full-time employees, including our Directors, started off as office staff, seasonal Road Warriors, or Event Directors. There is always room for growth and long term full-time positions for individuals whose values line up with ours.

Dates & Details

  • Must be available to attend all of the following:
  • This is a FULL-TIME year-round position. You will travel each week from January – June, travel to World Finals throughout June and July and work from home August – January each year. We are looking for someone to grow within the company and be with us for years to come!
  • Start Date – Flexible based on the right candidate, but preferably by August 10th, 2026.
  • Two year minimum contract.
