Heat provides an interactive dance community and education platform online, inspired by the immersive dance experiences we deliver daily in our state‑of‑the‑art studios—part dance class, part exercise, part immersive theatre. Job Description
Heat Dance is currently seeking an intern to join our Events team who is self‑motivated and has a passion for entertainment, music/dance, and putting on magical experiences. Our Events team arranges parties, press events, pop‑ups, and represents Heat Dance to the media and external organizations. The ideal candidate is well‑organized, possesses excellent communication skills, and is thoughtfully audience‑focused when interacting with online communities and building relationships.
The intern will work under the Creative Director to manage the Heat Dance events from beginning to execution and handle communications with entertainment agents, guests, and people in all positions at external media companies. You will learn how to pitch event concepts, build design boards, and account for all elements of high‑profile large events. The position is well suited for someone who uses Pinterest, stays in‑touch with current pop culture, and is interested in a career in entertainment, event coordinating, or PR.
Location
Offices & studios in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA, in‑person.
Dates
2020 Summer Session: June 1 – September 18 with Orientation on Wednesday, May 27. 2020 Fall Session: September 8 – December 18 with Orientation on Wednesday, September 2.
Hours
At least 2 days per week Monday‑Friday for 6 hours each; generally flexible between 10 am‑7 pm. Depending on the team/department, specific days/times will be arranged with your manager. Special Events may occur outside of these time frames and interns will be expected to make themselves available outside of educational & professional commitments.
Compensation
Unpaid internship; selection requires eligibility for school credit or participation on a volunteer basis.
Future
Can lead to increased responsibilities and involvement over time, with the potential to expand into the PR, digital marketing, or design areas based on the intern’s proven skills and dedication.
Responsibilities
- Create an event dance‑related contest to build interest in the brand – work with other interns and departments to host an event or manage a contest or marketing experience.
- Gather a team of interns and delegate tasks to help make your vision a reality.
- Work with the marketing & graphic design teams to market events.
- Brainstorm regularly: collaborate with marketing to assist with content, campaigns, and marketing.
- Monitor trends in social media, entertainment, dance, and applications and apply that knowledge to create viral content that will increase word‑of‑mouth.
