Europe Technical Finance Manager

Opportunity

• This is a demanding technical accounting position, where you will play a key role in a number of external and internal reporting and technical finance deliverables in relation to the European business of Intact Insurance Europe SA (IIEU).
• The most significant deliverable will be delivering aspects of IFRS and French-GAAP reporting for IIEU including developing new French-GAAP financial filings, and delivering yearend IFRS/French-GAAP statutory reporting in a fast pace and changing environment.
• This role will need to focus on extracting the key points/insight from a set of numbers, and presenting these in a clear and concise fashion for input into IIEU Quarterly and annual reporting meetings.
• You will be required to manage and maintain key stakeholder relationships, including internal stakeholders and external auditors.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for annual and quarter end French-GAAP financial reporting to the IIEU Financial Controller;
• Gathering, validating and compiling quantitative and qualitative financial information, from branches to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Analysing financial and business data and information using a variety of proven statistical and other analytical techniques to identify trends, anomalies, gaps, etc.
• Interpreting financial information to determine causality, significance, business impact or implications and developing advice or recommendations for action to be approved by others.
• Ensuring information and interpretation is presented clearly, unambiguously and in a readily comprehensible and appropriate format for the audience and business purpose.
• Reconciliation of Europe Management profit and loss result to IIEU entity level result.
• Responsible for production of the quarterly French GAAP profit and loss account for the Group Regulatory Reporting team.
• Responsible for production of the annual local GAAP financial statements IIEU with support from the IIEU Financial controller and technical accounting leader.
• Operating robust key controls including pipeline and management reviews.
• Preparing entity level forecasts and reports on a regular or ad hoc basis to meet the needs of internal customers and stakeholders, within agreed timescales.

Functional / Technical Skills

• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience
• Fluent in French and English (written and oral)
• Qualified Accounting professional
• Relevant previous experience in a limited company and/or regulated business
• Proven ability to manage complex financial reporting procedures and consistently achieve accurate, on time delivery
• This role may involve travel to European branches
• Key role in accounting for significant transactions across the Europe business and will work closely with senior management and external auditors.
