Airbus Helicopters, located in Marignane, is looking for an experienced Weight & Balance / Mass Properties Engineer to join our Aircraft Architecture & Product Policy Department.

Location & Employment

Marignane, France – Permanent (Class G13). This role is part of our transnational Weight and Balance team of 11 members across Marignane and Donauwörth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage mass properties across the Airbus Helicopters range and ensure customer mission requirements are met during production aircraft delivery.
  • Track design modifications and report their impact on helicopter weight and balance to relevant stakeholders.
  • Challenge designers to optimize part design from a weight and balance perspective, leveraging airframe and mechanics principles.
  • Create clear and concise technical documentation and notes.
  • Participate in official aircraft weighings and validate results against calculations.
  • Provide weight and balance expertise for responses to calls for tenders.
  • Contribute to the capitalization of business knowledge and harmonisation of processes and tools.
  • Manage subcontracting activities within the area of responsibility.
  • Maintain synergies within the department and across the organisation (design sizing, competition analysis, aircraft architecture).
  • Provide technical leadership and support to the team, especially during critical phases of helicopter development.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5years of higher education or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5years confirmed experience in Weight & Balance / Mass Properties.
  • Mandatory expertise in vehicle systems design and stress.
  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to produce clear technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated autonomy, strong organisational skills and rigor in managing work with internal and external partners.
  • Proactive, quick learner with a passion for sharing knowledge and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability and ability to thrive in transverse teams within a complex environment.
  • Clear interest in further developing expertise in weight and balance.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Google Workspace environments.
  • Position requires security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
