Environmental Test Lab Manager (M/F)
Job Description
Our team is the secret to our success. We are proud to be working with inspiring colleagues who are smart, fun, ambitious and looking for the challenge to transform an industry.
Do you think this could be you? To pursue our ambitious vision, we are looking for an Environmental Test Lab Manager (M/F). In this position, you will stand up and run the environmental test lab that qualifies our deployable structures — owning the test capability end-to-end from facility build-out and equipment procurement through to test campaigns on flight hardware, alongside former SpaceX engineers.
Your Mission Will Be To
- Own the environmental test lab end-to-end: thermal vacuum, thermal cycling, vibration, shock, and deployment testing of mechanisms and full deployable systems
- Build out and manage the lab as a facility — capital equipment specification and procurement, installation, calibration and maintenance programs, safety, and capacity planning as we scale
- Partner with mechanical, thermal and systems engineering to define test requirements, write procedures, and translate qualification needs into executable campaigns
- Lead and personally run critical test campaigns on flight hardware, from setup and instrumentation through data review and anomaly investigation
- Develop a small team of test engineers and technicians: hire, mentor, and grow the bench as the lab scales with the company
- Manage external test campaigns at partner facilities where in‑house capability is not yet available, including vendor qualification and oversight
- Drive the lab's processes — test readiness reviews, configuration control, data archival — to the standards expected of flight programs
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands‑on environmental testing experience in aerospace or another demanding hardware industry (TVAC, vibration, shock, thermal cycle)
- Direct experience operating environmental test equipment — shakers, thermal vacuum chambers, thermal chambers — not just overseeing it
- A track record of running test campaigns on spacecraft hardware, ideally on mechanisms or deployable structures
- Some experience leading people or coordinating a small team; or a strong senior individual ready to step into a lead role
- Comfort with facility‑side topics: equipment procurement, calibration, lab safety, capacity planning
- Strong analytical skills, a proactive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and unbounded curiosity
- Autonomy and a willingness to own a critical capability end‑to‑end, in a young lab where you will shape how things are done
- Professional level English — French is welcome but not required
We are equally interested in senior test engineers, lead test specialists, or technicians‑turned‑engineers ready for their first lab management role — if you have built deep environmental testing chops in industry and want the next step, we want to hear from you.
