Environmental Scientist II
The Environmental Scientist II role involves designing sustainable, cost‑effective systems that contribute to cleaner environments and healthier communities. You will help shape solid waste infrastructure and environmental stewardship, working on projects such as waste planning, remediation, engineering, and implementation.
Responsibilities
- Collect project‑related data, which may include research, conducting surveys for listed species, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, land use, etc.
- Assimilate and manage data.
- Prepare constraints mapping.
- Lead field investigations for natural resources, such as wetlands, protected species habitat, trees, etc.
- Define the level of environmental analysis required.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments.
- Perform complex assignments, making independent decisions on problems and methods.
- Assist in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings.
- Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance.
- Work independently on medium‑size projects, or assist more‑senior scientists on larger projects.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Ability to interact with various design teams, and have excellent organizational, research, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
- USFWS permit for various species.
- Experience leading field teams and conducting natural resource surveys.
- Experience preparing proposals, schedules, and cost estimates, as well as managing execution of environmental tasks in support of public and private projects.
- Experience in regulatory permit coordination and agency consultation (e.g., USACE, USFWS).
- Experience with City of Austin environmental permitting.
- Experience in erosion and sedimentation control plans and inspections.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field.
- 5 years technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Strong environmental writing and communication skills.
- Strong conceptual, organizational, problem‑solving and research abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Location: Austin, Texas (primary); Round Rock, Texas (alternate).
Schedule: Full‑time; Employee Status: Regular.
