Core Responsibilities

  • Perform and/or oversee Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), including site visits, historical research, and technical report preparation.
  • Support and execute Phase II ESAs, including field data collection (soil, groundwater, and soil vapor sampling), logging soil borings and monitoring wells, and preparing field documentation and reports.
  • Conduct stormwater sampling in compliance with NPDES requirements and limited asbestos sampling, including fieldwork and reporting.
  • Provide technical, administrative, and billable project support to Project Managers and Client Managers as requested.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to support project execution, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of and compliance with Atlas policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Geology, Engineering, or Environmental Sciences.
  • 6+ years of experience performing Phase I and Phase II ESAs, including site visits, field activities, and technical report writing.
  • A valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Ability to perform field work under limited supervision and in full compliance with Atlas and client safety protocols.
  • Proven ability to manage time, prioritize multiple projects, and meet deliverable deadlines and project budgets with minimal supervision.
  • 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification with a current refresher.
  • AHERA Building Inspector Asbestos Certification.
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations and due diligence processes, including ASTM E1527, with familiarity in Virginia, Maryland, and surrounding state regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other commonly used software; working knowledge of the Quire platform is a plus.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project and client management experience within an environmental consulting environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%, primarily within Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and surrounding states.
  • Interest in pursuing or maintaining relevant professional registrations or certifications.
  • Prior environmental consulting experience required.
