Job Overview
This role ensures the company complies with health and safety laws, collaborates with the Director of Operations and Project Teams, and leads the Safety Team to improve workplace conditions and maintain a strong safety culture.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with leadership to establish and maintain a strong safety culture.
- Apply deep knowledge of legal health and safety guidelines.
- Produce reports and develop relevant policies.
- Conduct data analysis and risk assessment.
- Ensure all work follows approved manuals, internal policies, contract documents, and best practices.
- Maintain project cost/change controls, budgets, and accounting records.
- Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions for accidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
- Analyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies to implement safer procedures.
- Create and manage spreadsheet reports, Word documents, edit PDF documents, and handle e‑mail communication.
- Perform routine safety inspections and audits, including overseeing audits for additional facilities.
- Facilitate workplace health and safety meetings and inspections with local, state, and third‑party agencies.
- Propose and execute company‑wide safety improvements and initiatives.
- Identify training needs for Safety Team members.
- Lead team meetings to discuss safety issues, updates, and action plans.
- Motivate and mentor team members to enhance performance.
- Complete all necessary reporting (e.g., OSHA 300).
- Facilitate Safety Committee obligations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years as a safety representative in manufacturing or construction.
- Experience managing a team.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- OSHA 30 certification or higher.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Full range of mobility, ability to reach overhead, work in various positions, lift 50 pounds, and operate in a shop environment with noise, dust, fumes, and odors. Physical activity is required, including strenuous daily tasks in a production setting.
Compensation
$95,000 – $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
