About the role

As an Enterprise Architect at Cognite, you will play a vital role within our organization by leading the design and implementation of complex, enterprise-level solutions for our industrial clients. You will work closely with the Expert Services Offerings team within the Value Delivery organization to ensure that our solutions meet the strategic and operational needs of major clients in the energy and process industries. Your expertise will guide clients through digital transformation initiatives, helping them leverage cloud technologies, data integration, and automation to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability. This position requires a combination of technical leadership, strategic thinking, and strong stakeholder management skills to deliver impactful solutions that align with client objectives and industry standards.

What you'll do

  • Lead the development, design, and deployment of tailored enterprise solutions that address the specific operational challenges faced by clients in the industrial sector.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to understand client needs and translate these into scalable technical architectures that leverage Cognite's platform and services.
  • Work closely with delivery teams to oversee the implementation of solutions, ensuring they meet quality standards, are delivered on time, and align with client expectations.
  • Provide strategic guidance and technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from initial assessment and planning through to deployment and support.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive enterprise architecture models, including data schemas, integration frameworks, and user-facing application designs.
  • Utilize programming skills in Python and other relevant languages to contribute to solution development, especially in areas involving data ingestion, automation, and integration.
  • Engage with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud to design scalable, secure, and cloud-native solutions that support enterprise needs.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including C-level executives, operations managers, and technical teams, to promote the adoption and long-term success of Cognite's solutions.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for internal teams, partners, and clients to ensure a clear understanding of the architecture, capabilities, and best practices associated with Cognite's offerings.
  • Support clients in their digital transformation efforts by integrating IoT, automation, and data analytics technologies, ensuring solutions are compliant with industry standards and regulations, including ITAR where applicable.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to continuously improve solution architecture and client engagement strategies.
  • Assist in defining technical standards, best practices, and documentation to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
  • Participate in technical reviews, audits, and quality assurance processes to uphold high standards of solution delivery.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with future technological developments.
  • Contribute to the growth of Cognite's technical capabilities by sharing knowledge, mentoring junior team members, and participating in internal training initiatives.
  • Travel to client sites as needed to facilitate on-site assessments, workshops, and implementation activities, supporting a hands-on approach to client engagement.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in roles such as Software Engineer, Data Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, or Solutions Architect, with a proven track record of designing and delivering enterprise solutions.
  • At least 5 years of experience specifically in a Solutions Architect, Technical Architect, or Enterprise Architect capacity, demonstrating leadership in complex projects for enterprise clients.
  • Extensive experience in scaling SaaS or B2B software solutions within fast-paced, growth-oriented environments.
  • Strong backend development skills, with proficiency in Python and/or Java, and the ability to contribute code to solution components when necessary.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise architecture principles, including data ingestion, API design, cloud-native application development, and system integration.
  • Experience working with industrial sectors such as Manufacturing, Energy, Oil & Gas, or Life Sciences, with an understanding of their operational challenges and regulatory environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, including designing scalable and secure cloud solutions.
  • Knowledge of container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical teams and senior executives to drive project success and strategic alignment.
  • Ability to work on-site in France and travel as required to meet with clients, conduct workshops, and oversee implementation activities.
  • Experience working with regulated industries and familiarity with compliance standards such as ITAR is a plus.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in industries such as Manufacturing, Energy, Oil & Gas, Pharma, or Life Sciences is advantageous.
  • Additional expertise in IoT, automation, or industrial control systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with other cloud services, advanced data analytics, or AI technologies can be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific standards and best practices for digital transformation and data security.

Skills & tools

  • Proficiency in Python and/or Java programming languages.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps methodologies, and automation tools.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data architectures, APIs, and integration frameworks.
  • Ability to develop and review technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and best practice guidelines.
