Engineering Technician I (S)

Position located in Division 10. This role supports construction inspection, surveying, material sampling, testing, erosion control, and construction traffic control. Responsibilities include performing a wide variety of standardized and non-standardized tests, compiling, analyzing, computing, editing, and processing field data. The technician performs a full range of calculations and computations and maintains accurate records. Work occurs under both indoor and outdoor conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct construction inspection and surveying tasks.
• Execute material sampling and testing procedures.
• Assist with erosion control and construction traffic control.
• Perform standardized and non-standardized testing, data compilation, analysis, and editing.
• Maintain meticulous, legible records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry.
• Work independently or with limited supervision on projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of related experience; a degree is not required.
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Knowledge of construction concepts, practices, and theories.
• Experience in planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects.
• Skill in computer equipment, iPad, and software use.
• Customer service experience and interaction with the general public.
• Proficiency in record keeping.
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle; safety toe shoes required.

Minimum Education and Experience

Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants may qualify through education, experience, or a combination.

Salary

Description: NC07 $35,984.00 – $49,477.50 – $62,971.00.
