Engineering Task Leader Chassis

As part of the European Medium Duty Business Unit (EMD BU) and our Chassis and Vehicle Dynamics Development Team, you’ll contribute to developing high‑quality chassis solutions supporting our range of electric trucks.
You’ll work in the chassis technical area, as Engineering Task Leader for the Module Under Cab on the Battery Electric Vehicles and chassis coolant utilizing a wide range of knowledge including metallic structures, components installation, routing, cooling performance.
Responsibilities
- Identifying product requirements and technical specifications
- Planning the different releases, evaluating and selecting design concepts and driving the development of the technical solution
- Planning and supporting validation & verification activities
- Adapting and releasing designs based on test results, FEA reports, supplier feedback, and manufacturing input
- Contributing to problem‑solving activities based on testing, customer feedback, or field reports
- Managing identification, design reviews and relations with suppliers
- Coordinating development teams spread across several sites
You will work in close collaboration with teams and stakeholders across France, Sweden, India, Brazil, and other Volvo Group entities.

You’ll join a team of 30 passionate engineers specialized in chassis development for our medium‑duty truck range—covering structural, suspension, brake control, and cooling systems, both for traditional and electric vehicles.
Who are you?
You’re a curious and solutions‑driven mechanical engineer, who enjoys working in a dynamic, international environment.
We believe you bring:
- A Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field with minimum 7 years of experience in the automotive or transport industry
- Or a Bachelor/Postgraduate with minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the automotive or transport industry
- Strong proficiency in CREO CAD and a solid understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- A practical mindset with strong knowledge of sheet metal and welded component design, as well as bolted assembly principles
- Strong knowledge in cooling systems performance
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in both English and French
- The ability to adapt quickly, manage priorities, and work proactively across multicultural teams
